Hattie Pearson (Saturday) and Johnny Vaughan (Sunday) are doing weekend breakfast - not sure if its a one off
Looks like no new presenters coming in to replace Jon or Ian Camfield, suspect Hattie will be replaced by best of Moyles on Sat when he returns and Johnny's Sunday show will be a best off. So a good weekend breakfast show replaced by best ofs, X obviously blew their budgets on those two so the rest of the schedule is run on a shoe string.

What a post! Basically you have guessed at something might happen and then had a go at Radio X for blowing the budget causing this to happen, which it hasnt!

So Johnny Vaughan just has a one off Sunday show? No it'll be a regular best off.

Guessing about Moyles on Sat but you don't do a best of drive without best of breakfast.

On the Holmes departure, it's not so long ago that Nick Abbot was doing afternoons on Virgin and evenings on Talk Radio, so presenters having two gigs has worked particularly when the stations are of different genres. That may be why he wasn't given the gardening leave treatment as taking his listeners to a speech station was seen as unlikely.

Of course he already has another gig as a regular contributor to Radio 4's Now Show.

Surely if they are not paying Holmes now there's a few quid for even a generic music led weekend show?

Having seen how well Jon Holmes performed in the RAJARs with a heavily personality-led show, I could see why they might want to try running the highlights from their main personalities instead of turning weekend breakfast into a generic music-led show.

If I was faced with the prospect of having to hire a big-name jock to maintain the RAJARs or pay a more generic jock just to bring the figures down, I'd certainly be tempted to take a punt on a couple of 'best of' shows.

Jon Holmes probably took a lot of his XFM weekday listeners to his Radio X weekend shows. It was certainly the case for me. Personally Chris Moyles doesn't do it for me, so I'll go elsewhere if a 'Best of Moyles' is foisted upon Holmes former hours. Same with Johnny Vaughan in that respect. As it is, I don't tune into Radio X that much during the week because of Moyles being on in the mornings, yet conversely, did tune in more across the weekends because of Holmes being on in the mornings.

They could always give Clint Boon weekend breakfast. I'd probably listen to that.

Clint Boon would be a great shout - I'd forgotten that he was still with the station.

I'd be happy with highlights from Moyles and Vaughan, though - I like them both and don't get much of a chance to listen to them during the week.

I'd give Moyles and Vaughan the 4pm weekend slots and maybe put Jo Good at weekend breakfast

It's not beyond the realms of logistics for Boon to be able to do weekend breakfast and still do his Sunday evening show.

Personally I would love Adam & Joe to relive their XFM days (not forgetting BBC6 Music)

They should make Moyles Head of Music he's playing some great stuff today when given free reign, Black Sabbath, Kate Bush, Genesis, Queen.

Interesting the Kate Bush and T Rex tracks are the originals of the inferior cover versions they usually play.

I think the broader range of music Moyle would program would be much more popular.

Just a shame today's Platinum hour was so obviously pre-recorded, as there were no texts/tweets being read out, no interaction with the team and then Moyles says at the end of the show, the news may start late because of the last track by Genesis, even though it finished 3 minutes before 10!

Hattie's tweeted she's doing Saturday breakfast for a few weeks so wonder if that means someone bigger is lined up or if it's just for a trial period

It was also obviously pre-recorded because he'd said it would be multiple times in the week leading up to it.

Was Vernon's show today pre-recorded? Something made me think it was.

Yep pre recorded last week they already knew the chart, a shame as the first two shows were very interactive with plenty of listener mentions. I suppose they wanted a big name for the finale but no way he was going to be live especially when he's on at 6:30am tomorrow.

Think he even mentioned on Moyles show he was pre recording it.

They have indeed, a Chris Moyles best off once he's back from holiday.

Vernon could be interesting tomorrow considering he is on the Front Page of The Sun. One way to make sure people don't tune out when Moyles is away I guess...

If Radio X start doing "best of's" at the weekend then that'll be more programmes I'll have to avoid.

One thing I have to acknowledge though (see posts I made in one of the old XFM threads) is that I've been pleasantly surprised by Johnny Vaughan's Drivetime show. I was expecting it to be awful as I've never really cared much for the guy but his programme has actually been very listenable. I never listen to Chris Moyles - I can't stand incessant waffle though his programme is enjoyable at 9am on a Friday when he plays music rather than piping on. Vernon Kaye's programme hasn't worked for me though, he's quite dull.

Agree fully about Vaughan, he is the surprise star for me.

I must disagree with some of the things you said.

Moyles is just brilliant.

Vernon is a surprise star for me. He's proved himself on his own show and when he covers for Moyles he shows that he can make a zoo work. If Chris was to leave, I would tip Vernon to get it.

I can't comment on Johnny Vaughan because I haven't listened to a lot of him.

On a different note, I found Phil Clifton a bit dull last night. That was the first time I've heard him and it could have been a bad day so I'll give him another try soon.
