I must disagree with some of the things you said.

Moyles is just brilliant.

Vernon is a surprise star for me. He's proved himself on his own show and when he covers for Moyles he shows that he can make a zoo work. If Chris was to leave, I would tip Vernon to get it.

I can't comment on Johnny Vaughan because I haven't listened to a lot of him.

On a different note, I found Phil Clifton a bit dull last night. That was the first time I've heard him and it could have been a bad day so I'll give him another try soon.
It's horses for courses. Moyles isn't likely to appeal to many of the Jon Holmes or Danny Wallace diehards, but he's got his own set of fans.

Vaughan has proved an inspired choice for drivetime. As time has gone by, I do have slight concerns over whether Moyles fit in with the spirit of the station. Ie. are Moyles' listeners going to stay tuned for the rest of the day?

My guess is that's why Kay was brought in to follow on but we've already seen his first figures were disastrous. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the figures as this year goes by will probably indicate a lot of independent listeners tuning in for Moyles and Vaughan, but weak figures for the rest of the schedule (including churn from some of the old XFMers).

Oh, one more word on Kay covering for Moyles. It really is dismal. After he'd ran out of content two days in (and was possibly embarrassed by his latest sexting revelations), it essentially turned into Family Fortunes on the radio. So, no, EPIC.PERSON, Kay would never ever be an option for the breakfast show full time.

The things Jon Holmes has hinted at on talkradio does make me think Moyles is potentially not a nice person to work for/around. Which is a shame

Not that he's bitter about the bloke who nicked his job or anything...

Trust me, as a fan of both, I really want to believe that CM is an act, and off the mic he's sweetness and light etc but ... hmm.

Has Ricky Wilson left? Not showing as on tomorrow, yet he's going to be on Radio 1 breakfast this morning. Wonder if they'll discuss his radio career?

This morning they have a news reader presenting a show! Is this becoming a sinking ship, why can't they attract new presenters they have not managed to replace either Ian Camfield or Jon Holmes. Regular stand in. Georgie Rogers has also gone to Virgin. So they're 2 and a bit presenters down from launch. Why don't presenters want to work there?

Ricky has probably taken the week off due to The Voice final on Saturday Night

John Robins tweeted yesterday that he is covering Ricky for the next two weeks.

So we can expect Dominic Byrne to start covering next...

Surely he's known about that for months so why take time at short notice? There were trailers for this Sunday's show during breakfast this week, so suddenly pulling out is a bit suspicious.

Or maybe the trailer should have been pulled but wasn't and this has been planned for months. I always find it funny when something like this happens. Presenters have holidays just like everybody else.

You are working on the flawed assumption they have actually asked people to work for them.

I think it was publicised that Edith Bowman turned them down, probably knew the Virgin gig was on it's way so they were obviously looking for another name for the 1pm slot.

Poor old Jo Good has had to work every day since Easter, next week she has to do the 1-4 graveyard slot.

If I was in charge I would have kept Jo Good on the evening show once more and asked Ross to do overnights. Jack Saunders, regular cover presenter on the evening show is on from tomorrow.

John Robins is on for Ricky Wilson again next Sunday.

I thought Jo would be a good shout for weekend breakfast (as she's done a similar slot, albeit earlier, for 6 Music) but the evening show would be better in a perfect world, yes.

Caught in traffic this morning I tuned around our local DAB and came across Radio X playing Red Hot Chilly Peppers ------ very nice thanks.
Then I listened to what seemed like a life time of advert which ended with the comment along the lines of "end of adverts" ?
Now Chris Moyles' turn with about 15 minutes of himself ,another male and a female all taking bets on the reaction of the female (who I'd never heard of) to a film producer (who I'd never heard of) being in the Radio X building.

What a complete and utter load of twaddle ----- are people seriously entertained by this ?

Regards

In one word, YES!

Chris doesnt pretend it is anything other than lighthearted fun radio for entertainment. He has a very loyal fanbase. Plenty of other options if you dont like it

You dont usually listen to Moyles and you've never heard of his producer Pippa (presumably the female in your post)?

No, that would make sense. Why would you? Thats not the shows fault!

Clearly introspection is your strong point. Unless you weren't meaning to be so ironic...

Yes you are correct ----- and after listening this morning I won't be again .
But as boardboy posted he has a "very loyal fanbase" -- --- to each his own.

Not for me ------- my opinion of course.

This is one of the reasons I am a fan of Moyles. I have no desire to listen to music at 6.30am. I want to be woken up by having a laugh with funny people. That's what I get on the Radio X breakfast show.

I also think the Moyles and Vaughan thing is overstated. They are not too bad with each other nowadays. I loved it when Chris was laughing about how Vaughan had turned up for his show over an hour late because he'd fallen asleep.
