According to Peter Capaldi the new companion has been cast and it's possibly someone he's worked with before.

It's April Pearson who was on Skins (as was Capaldi), no idea if they ever had scenes together though.

Yeah that page has a history of being wrong about big things in the past - mostly things that get deleted as soon as they're proven wrong to bolster up a supposedly decent track record.

Not that I'm implying I know any better, right or wrong, they may have called it. Hopefully there'll be an official announcement sometime soon.

Whoever it is it would make a nice change to have someone different from the usually feisty, sassy, know it all female sidekick who always knows best and makes the Doctor look a bit rubbish.

Radio Times are quoting Capaldi as saying "We've been doing a bit of work together already..." meaning Who, so we can stop trawling his imdb credits for clues!

I've been saying for a while on various threads that the companion would have realistically been cast months ago, and while everyone was plodding along pretending the myth of them not having been cast was true, they've probably been getting to know each other/rehearsing in private in preparation for filming.

The companion is always cast many months before they tell anyone that is the case. They always say they had to keep the secret for months before it was revealed.

It baffles me that after it happens that way every time, people still each time believe close to the filming date they haven't yet cast anyone.

Highly doubt it's april.

Being flayed alive while someone pours lemon juice on the wounds is a more pleasurable experience than watching Skins.

She looks too much like a Clara clone.

I think she looks quite similar to Jenna too. Maybe it's the dark hair and the cheek bones. Of course it may not be her.
It would be nice if they cast a blonde actress or black actress just to draw a real line under the previous companion visually showing the changes. It's been a while since Billie and Freema now

The only that can be said for certain, is that she will be announced before any street filming. Guest and recurring actors are always announced before they film in public

I imagine the announcement won't happen until AFTER the S9 box set is launched everywhere, and it won't be launched in the US until the 5th April I think. I imagine that once the publicity for this has been finished, then the new Companion will be announced.

Well I don't think Michelle Keegan is in the running. Isn't she the lead in Our Girl now which startedfilming in January
