Just that short clip of her grated on me, not a fan, but it was only 30 seconds or so.

Also struck me as a cheap rate Zawe Ashton. She would have been a brilliant companion

No this was a one off clip. The companion is rumoured to not be in the Christmas special

Wow, where are the real fans? who cares what she looks like and whether she is sexy? FGS !!

She reminded me of early Rose, and Ace a little, she will be fine.

So I may have wanted Rakhee Thakrar more, but are people really writing her off already because she's "ugly" and "horrible"...? Some people seem very quick to make their mind up.

I think I'm starting to understand the ratings drop a little.

was she supposed to be funny in that clip....utterly dreadful...whoever made that choice needs shooting (joke).

What are the chances the doctor will chuck her out of the tardis from a great height?

my thoughts on the new character - annoying, my son said same thing. shame no series this year.

on a side note regarding racism, if anyone can, watch Michael Moore's new film "Where to invade next" its one of the most thought provoking films not just about racism but laws and drugs. amazing film.”

The bbc had a complaint against them years ago that the black to white proportion was about 1 in 10. So in the past 10 to 15 years or so they are flooding most of there programs with non white people.

Eh...the BBC obviously...hence the skin colour. Did you really think they'd dare cast another white female in the role?

My first thoughts.... "Oh Donna was popular, lets do that again. " Only they focused on annoying rather than character...

I struggled to make out what was being said. Had to rewind it and rewatch it.

Felt a little anticlimactic as really did they need to announce it now? If I hadn't read it online who ti was I would be going 'who?' now...

Was nice to see some Doctor Who but God was she irritating. There's something coming to kill you so shut up and stop asking questions. I know they're trying to introduce her but seriously this was the best scene they could come up with?

Why is shouting at someone funny?

Blacks make up just 3% of the UK's population!!

Remember BBC One Saturdays, Matt Smith and Karen Gillian with Total Wipeout at 5pm followed by Doctor Who Series 5 nice and simplistic. Sigggh I missed that

I didnt really think of her skin colour, I could not care less how much pigment she has, and why would anyone else? I would have preferred a male though, but she'll do, she looks feisty.

I'm a real fan, I don't care about race or looks, she seems like a common chav and really grated on me in that little clip. Moffatt needs to go........ oh wait he is, hopefully Chib will get rid of her when he takes over

According to the Radio Times She's not supposed to be in the Christmas Special and the Doctor's line about getting back to 2017 seems to support this,

Seemed a bit 'CBBC presenter' to me, but tough to judge on that clip. Surprised they didn't do a bit more of an introduction and have her talking about the role or somesuch. I'm neither excited nor put off by the casting. Looks like a real 'wait and see'.

Maybe it's a trick and she'll get killed off in the first five minutes of the next episode and the real companion will be revealed!

From that little clip she seems really irritating. I hope that wasn't an attempt at comedy....

Perhaps that was the best one they have of her so far, in which case the show is in serious trouble...

First impressions would have liked an older person.I see she is (insert compulsory elements for a modern companion ; ) sassy, talks back and doesn't take notice of the doctor much. Seems OK for a companion but not impressed with the name Bill. Seems a bit stupid and for effect. Mind you we had Ace !

Unless the new doctor is non white there is no way a mixed race will be axed after one series the backlash terrifies the BBC.

God, haven't seen these kind of posts in a few months. This was only a small clip as well, and people are acting like this is a full episode and going back on the "omg the show is ruined" train.
