Lol. Very noble sentiment, but the BBC can't really afford to be so high minded. Doctor Who is a very important franchise for them.
But she won't be transgendered anyway and it's a very silly, Guardian type sentiment to suggest she might be. Unfortunately, that type of personality equates everyone other than white heterosexual males with being some interchangeable form of tokenism: hence these silly kinds of comments. "Well, she's black, so why not a transgendered werewolf with acromegly. It's practically the same thing!"
The production team are far too good to do something as disruptive as that. It would overshadow everything else they did and would take all of the focus away from the other storylines. Moffat and co are just far too savvy to let the essence of Doctor Who be submerged by some sort of high-minded agenda. The show needs to be about 'adventure in Time and Space', with a
helping of melodrama. They know that. Giving such a trait to the character would push her and the show
far too much in the latter direction.
I also think Moffat is too good a writer for the character to be some kind of coarse, unlikeable chav.

Pathetic.
Was Amy the same as Rose because they are both white, was Donna and Amy the same because of their hair colour....”
Clara was similar to Amy... because she had the same writer

So my guess is that this character will have some similar traits too. She's already got Clara's shoes.
