I'd rather we have 10 Adam's as a companion than her to return.

One thing we know about the new companion is that they are very different to who we've had before. Ashldr would not fit that description - as a young, pretty brunette who has lived for centuries she wouldn't be a million miles away from Clara "the impossible girl".

It was never going to be Ashildr, due to two simples a) Maisie Williams is still a regular on Game Of Thrones for the foreseeable future and b) Ashildr's story ended with her travelling with Clara.

Whoever it is, they need to just get on with announcing them now. Personally though, I'd have two companions. A female for all of Series 10 and a male companion added in the second half of the series.

Yes I think that's likely. Add to this the comment above that it's been hard to keep this a secret. If it was a fairly unknown actor then keeping a secret wouldn't have perhaps been so difficult...

For a moment there I thought they were doing a big show thing for the announcement again like they did with Capaldi. Finding all sorts of stuff to kill the time while an overly-enthusiastic narrator talks over old Doctor Who footage while finding different variations of saying "WHO WILL BE THE DOCTOR'S NEW TRAVELLING AMIGO?"

I have a good feeling about Rakhee, she's probably the most heavily rumoured one out there, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I reckon she'd be great and I'm very enthusiastic about the possibility of her being the companion.

I thought exactly that. And I think that's also what the show needs - an actress bringing with her own fan base.

This is a very clever move from the BBC. Hopefully it'll boost the profile of the show and let people know that it's still for everyone and not just hardcore fans.
