HDR-1000S won't power up when recording
I am having an issue where my box won't turn on when it is recording something.
Both via the remote or via the button on the box. Is this a known fault? |

Try turning off whatever your TV calls CEC control.
The trade names used by TV makers can be found here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI |

I don't have 'CEC' or whatever it is called switched on. I don't like it, so have never activated it.

If no CEC the box is probably booting up, but failing to complete the HDCP handshake procedure. You can test this by connecting by an analogue output (scart). Things to try, Use a different hdmi port on the TV. Tune the TV to a different input and back to the one used by the box (forces hdcp handshake). |

No, it wasn't on.
I had to power down the box by the main plug as it was still stuck on recording a show from last night. It had recorded 12 minutes of a 1 hour show and thrown a wobbler. It seems to be running ok now but I will schedule some recordings to test. |
