Hello there,

We have 2 Hudl 2's for our children and we really loved the built in parental controls that they gave us, but recently one of them has gone faulty and Tesco said they cannot repair or exchange it, but will give us a full refund.

Is there any other tablet around £100 with the same sort of built in parental controls please (I don't want to have to muck about with parental control apps if possible)?

At the moment I have my login with a PIN number and then they have 2 logons (one they can use for Youtube Kids and the other for their apps which I have restricted both as well to time limits and time of day that they can use them).

On the Samsung Tab I can only see something about the Kids Mode app (which I have on my phone), but I wanted them to be able to just turn it on and use it instead of one of us having to logon and open the Kids Mode app all the time.

Thanks, Mark.

Have just noticed an Acer Iconia 8 which looks like it's got parental controls, but unsure if you have to open the app each time?

Thanks, Mark.

Kindle Fire has parental controls, not sure how they compare to the Hudl but you can set it up so that the child only has access to their profile (and the apps you've allowed them access to) without needing to go into the parent profile.
You can also set it up so that they have to read for x hours before they can use apps, totally restrict internet access through a browser, disable messaging, set time limits and I'm pretty sure there are other options as well.

Are they like your standard Android tablet where you can use any apps etc off the Play store (I'm sure that there was something peculiar about the Amazon tablets)?

Thanks for the reply.

Mark.

There are many Windows 10 tablets around the £100 mark up to the ten inch Linx 1010 at £150 including a proper keyboard accessory. Windows 10 parental controls. You can restrict websites, time of day and so on.
Plus as a Windows tablet it will be great training to use a proper PC for school work and beyond.

You could buy a brand new Hudl 2 from Ebay or Amazon?

Good point. You're restricted to the Amazon app store. Which, to be fair has got a lot of content but isn't quite Play.

As proved by the OPs experience, the Hudl isn't very reliable.

I would have been tempted by the Windows tablets, but I have bought quite a few games on Google for them that I am reluctant to have to buy them again (just use my Google account on both of them so have only paid for the games once (I believe you are allowed to do this up to a certain number of devices)).

Anyway - I went for the Acer in the end as it seemed a fairly suitable replacement after I read up a bit more on it and also Currys are doing it for £79.99 at the moment ( http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computi...160322112102:s ).

Thanks, for the replies, Mark.

The OP mentioned You Tube Kids, AFAIK this isn't available on the Kindle Fire (as non of Google's stuff is in the Amazon App Store).
