Well I've searched high and low for a thread on this but to no avail. We're up to Episode 3 of this nordic noir showing on More 4 on a Thursday evening. It's a family thriller set at the Swedish seaside where a mother tries to reunite her 3 adult kids by forcing them to confront their families dark secrets.

I absolutely love it and not least because it is a family thriller with secrets unfolding instead of the ubiquitous crime thriller IE there are no coppers in sight. Yippee. Anyone else caught up in it?

I think that one "came in under the radar."

well i'm watching but i'm a bit bored so far and i don't normally mind a slow pace. I'll watch next week as i want to see what/who was thrown over the side of the boat but at the moment i don't really care about the characters.

I'm watching, enjoying it so far, I could be wrong but thought it seems obvious, maybe too much so, that it's their dad who Oskar has murdered and buried in the pool - hence his reluctance to have it completed.

They are all horrible people. I certainly don't like any of them. It's more the intrigue behind that is keeping my interest.

As an aside anyone else get a hint of Netflix's Bloodline initially?

Yes it was a bit UNDERLINED I can't understand why he left the body in the pool in the first place though as it was always going to be inconvenient.

We watched the first episode last night and then wiped the rest off the PVR as being not worth our time. Too many good series to catch up with. Boring, unlikeable characters - most shows like this have at least one character who creates empathy in the viewer.

Thicker than water - slower than treacle...

It's another case of something some people find too slow for their taste while many others enjoy more partly because it's not rushed.

I agree the three main characters aren't all likeable - they all have their own problems, weaknesses and personal priorities but that's all to the good, I say.

The main thing is I'm interested: I want to know what happens!

Is nobody really watching this? It's not my favourite thing on TV at the moment but I am enjoying it and am a bit surprised nobody seems to be talking about it much. It's been a slow burner but I quite like that. There are lots of other fast paced series and I enjoy those too - but nice to have the contrast.

It is a bit of slow burner. Yet the interesting thing about it is not having any indication how it might end and resolve things. It is certainly very different from most Scandi/Nordic dramas. I think the slow pacing reflects how the past slowly unravels into the present. The mother's last will and testament set the events in motion, and it was only a matter of time before the past and its dark events caught up with the innocent kids and their own lives in their present.

I keep thinking back to what the mother said to all three of them individually before she killed herself. None of what she said makes any sense so far. Then there is the feud with the neighbouring family and what happened to that family's husband. That's a bit of a slow burner too.

Oskar is tad annoying with his self-righteousness. He hasn't lived a clean life himself.

I think for me it is Blue Eyes that I would count as my least favourite at the moment. I didn't think Follow The Money was going to be any good. The title alone was a bit effy, but it confounded my expectations and turns out to be something I did not expect - again the title threw me off, lol! But that's my fav at the moment - really compelling characters. Sadly coming to end this weekend

Yes, the mother's individual conversations with all the offspring, which she made a big thing of and almost gave them appointments to hear. I was thinking about that last week. it seemed so significant at the time and yet I don't think any of them has referred to the "words of wisdom" since. I looked back and the things the mother told them to remember were:

Oskar: "You have to forgive."
Lasse: "You have to take care of them."
Jonna: "You are not me."

I wonder if there will be mention in the final episode?

I quite like Blue Eyes myself. It's certainly chilling. Follow the Money I thought was a bit daft but it has grown on me too. I'm pleased I didn't give up on either.

I'm surprised no-one's commenting on this. I'm still enjoying it, especially seeing both brothers, now each with some knowledge of what the other is hiding and wondering whether family loyalty or self-interest and revenge for past misdemeanours should take precedence.

Yes, it's like I was saying earlier, there are plenty of fast-paced series and plenty with complicated plots and lots of characters, but TTW is still interesting ... in a more gentle way! I haven't once been bored.

I'm liking it too. Interesting that it's mostly set in Åland, which is a Swedish-speaking part of Finland. A second season is on the way.

The phrase "Damning with faint praise" could've been invented just for this thread!

We've just started watching this, one episode a night. Up to six now.

Enjoying a lot. Similar premise to Danish drama The Legacy, shown on Sky.

Woman dies of cancer, leaves a will the contents of which don't suit the disparate squabbling children...

I've caught up with all but last Thursday's episode. Enjoying it, not as much as Blue Eyes but good all the same despite not finding any character likeable. What has confused me are the flashbacks. Clearly the girl is Jonna but I'm not sure which boy is which and after the visit from the bloke who holidayed there as a youngster I wasn't sure if he was involved in the scrap with dad. Also I found the episode with the wedding bizarre as if it had been written by a different writer. Still, look forward to seeing how this pans out though if there is a second series as stated a few posts up then maybe it won't be resolved. Oh and don't trust the solicitor woman one bit!

Isn't one of the boys blondish and the other dark haired? I thought so and that was how I figured which was which.

I got the impression the visiting boy knew more about the family and the brothers than they did him and also that it was their mother that was interested in less fortunate children like that boy. He seemed to play a part in reminding the younger brother what a bully his Dad was but doesn't seem more significant than that as he was got rid of pretty sharpish but I suppose he could end up more important than we now know.

It finished a couple of days ago and really enjoyed this! (Not faint praise Straker!)

It looked like there were numerous ways one of the three siblings might be absent at the end of the will's trial management period (Johanna's big break in acting, Lasse possibly in jail for links to arson at his restuarant and Oskar for murdering his father) but they managed it and met the conditions for inheritance of the guest house.

Not everything is resolved so some of these and other story lines will carry us onto the future. The neighbour killing herself in Johanna's presence and hre denying any knowledge, Kim's going off with Frederick and his likely blackmailing Oskar are bound to feature.

I liked it.

I enjoyed it too. I thought the final episode was very satisfying. Looking forward to Series 2. I do hope More4 buy it.

We now know that wasn't the end as there's another series planned. This was a temporary respite and brief chance for mutual back-slapping that they did inherit. There's more trouble to come, what with Oskar wanting to buy the others out and get back to how it was, but them both wanting to stay! Plus someone knows what Oskar did, and the body hasn't been found yet. Also the arsonist is in prison and being paid to keep quiet about Lasse's link to the fire but how long will that last? And did anyone see Johanna go out in a boat with Mildred but return alone? Is Frederick the blackmailer and will he want more? Lots to sort out.

I think I got more involved with this than with most other subtitled dramas, maybe because it's different. It's not about police investigating crime, it's partly about ordinary people commiting serious crimes and trying to get away with it. But the crimes aren't even central, they're the result of characters' problems in life.

I genuinely thought that the bottle of whiskey that the uncle wanted that was kept in the safe would come in to play at some point. Maybe turn out to be a rare blend worth hundreds of thousands.

Oh and Kim's root growth was good for showing the passing of time - just as good as having a pregnant character.
