Has there even been a star baker the week prior to the final whose gone on to win?

Andrew is my tip to win but he's been star baker for the last fortnight which suggests he is going to fall short in the final.

Maybe the Pout Queen will win.

So disappointed with Selasi far too laid back, too many basic mistakes. Since when do you not sieve your flour when making cakes? Also the orange segments that looked like a car crash. Sorry, I liked the guy very much but tonight he didn't seem bothered and I'm sure he could have done better. Hub made me laugh he called him Salami by mistake.

Right result but I'm sad to see Selasi leave as I really liked him.

Andrew performed best across the three challenges so totally deserved to be star baker tonight although the edit made it look as though Candice was expecting to get it.

Candice does come across as frosty and smug in equal measure. It's probably just down to unfortunately editing but those constant pouts scream "I AM THE BEST. HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST OTHERWISE. PFFT!!!!" lol

exactly. He was sloppy from the get go. Maybe him getting so far is a refection on the standard of this series' contestants

Move along, nothing to see here No surprises, it went quite as expected, although I was worried for Andrew for a moment. Candice had her eyes on another star baker, but I think Andrew deserved it more. I think any of the three can win it, it will depend on if anybody makes a cockup du jour.

Andrew wasn't Star Baker last week, Candice was.

Anyway, very happy for Andrew. He's definitely who I want to win. Can't warm to the other two. Wish Selasi had gone last week really and Benjamina was in the final, probably instead of Candice. However I can't say I've disagreed with many, if any of the decisions this year.

Candice deserved star baker, for me.
Sorry, disagree, her signature bake looked messy and in my opinion Andrew beat her there and he also did better in the technical. Plus he had better presentation on the show stopper.

Andrew deserves to win the whole thing

I think Candice had a better showstopper than Andrew (deffo think Mary preferred Candice's flavours to Andrew's) but Andrew had performed better in the previous challenges.

Did she have to make them within a time limit?

Last year was probably the highest standard ever, this year has fallen but I'm enjoying it just as much

Do you think any of these contestants really love baking? I just get the impression they have been practising in the week for whatever the challenge is but there is no real passion.
Jane must know what a fondant fancy looks like so why not even attempt to do them properly and just leave them all crumby. Selasi, much as I love his character was really phoning it in this week. Candice is obviously good on flavours but her one real showstopper the other week, the peacock, was heavily borrowed from Nadiya. Andrew is the best of a bad bunch but even he said he had never made much pastry. If you knew you were going to be on Bake off, wouldn't you be practising a huge range of things you know are going to come up? It is a bit disappointing for the last series. I wonder if any of them will get a book deal.

I think they probably do, but by `this point it's not really any fun for them is it? High standards needed, masses of pressure, cameras everywhere and they probably feel quite.. exposed.. in that big tent, just the four of them.

I think this point and the final have to be endured, rather than enjoyed.

I think it might have been a closer semi final had Selasi gone last week, as much as he was a great character in the tent. In the end that was a very dull semi final baking/result wise.
I've just watched it and agree. Shame tonight a bit of a damp squib in terms of competition.

I agree with your assessment. They all looked exhausted and pretty miserable tonight.

Maybe that's why she looked so stressed tonight.

Will miss Selasi a lot- for his character more than anything. He seemed like a lovely presence in the tent, and even in this episode was taking time to try to calm Andrew when he was doing his second batch of pastry. Every week he was helping someone else out.
As much as I don't think he deserved to win- Selasi's cake in Botanicals week has been the stand out bake of the series for me- just a shame his talent only shone through every now and then. Just too chilled out- but wouldn't have had him any other way.
Not really bothered who wins now- there is no stand out baker- they've all has their highs and lows, but it's a shame the standard is not a little higher.

Mary, Mel and Sue seemed to love Selasi a lot- maybe he needs recruiting for whatever show they might be doing next! lol.

Yes. Nadiya.

Farewell Selasi, I will miss you. In the end you were just too cool for the tent (and your baking wasn't quite up to standard ).
