How much of each ingredient would you use if you had no access to the recipe? Panic sets in!

"I can't believe it's moving to Channel 4". A bit too bitter though.

Usually only because most people have put a bet on her to win.

Exactly - it is a classic British cake and there is no icing or anything to hide imperfections. (and I still prefer fresh cream instead of butter cream )

It's kind of clever - like having a test of artists and saying 'OK, draw me the best circle you can manage'.”

I don't mind it at all. I do think they can all do this fairly well though.

Thought she gave them a choice of butters, etc.

When I was a kid it was just the jam, and be grateful it wasn't just plain buns.

It's the one thing I regularly make so I know it off by heart. I used to use all in one method but now I use spreadable butter and use creaming method. I don't make my own jam though.

Yes. It's easy - however many eggs you have, you use their weight in dry ingredients.
The classic one is 6/6/6 with three eggs.

Am sitting here with a throbbing tooth (abscess) and all this meringue and sugar makes the rest of them hurt too! Painkilling suggestions gratefully received. (Not booze).

I'd have no clue how to make a Vic sandwich. Probably just as well..... Pouts from Candice over criticism of her jam.

Candice falls down in the jam department.

Andrew does well.
