I was somewhat ambivalent about Candice before this evening but seeing her on Extra Slice tonight was, at least for me, a revelation. She was lovely! I thought she was definitely a worthy winner on Wednesday and I was impressed with her on TV tonight.

I wonder if Channel four will ban the professional bakers that come in to help them?

And then you broadcast it to the world on the Internet...
Or we could all keep our thoughts to ourselves. There would not be many posts here then.

Don't you think "I dislike Candice because..." is a bit more relevant and discussion-worthy than "I dislike Candice"?

It is easier if you can give a reason but sometimes you can't define why it is. You know you're not keen on a person but you don't know why. Would it be ok to say something like

"I don't know what it is about Person X but I just can't take to them" ?

Could be that other people have the same feeling or somebody else might be able to put their finger on it.

Candice got what she wanted... the chance to get a magazine deal and be a reality star. That's all she wanted.

And you know this how? Presumably you know her and those close to her and she has said so.

I think that, hopefully, Candice will get what she wanted - to be able to bake full time because she loves it.

Unlike any of the other competitors of course.

Now that it's been announced that Prue Leith has left Great British Menu I wonder if she's set to replace Mary when Bake Off goes to C4?

It's such a double-standard. No one ever asks the 'likes' to justify their opinion. For all you know the reason someone dislikes someone may be for the exact reason you like them, and the reason someone else likes them is for the exact opposite reason that you do. It's just human nature and some people divide opinion more strongly than others.

I haven't heard of any "likes" describing their feelings as "irrational". In fact, I can't think of any "like" which hasn't been accompanied by reasons why they like.

'People complain when you steal money from people, yet when you give people money nobody complains at all! It's such a double standard..."
Positive things are accepted, negative things are questioned. It's the way of the world I'm afraid.

Why does a feeling have to be qualified? Nobody in life is universally loved or loathed, once we accept that it makes it easier to get on with life and be comfortable in our own skins.

It doesn't. It's just that it becomes rather tedious when posters make negative comments based on their feelings, with no reasoning to back them up.

It is a forum, people say things we disagree with. I don't like liquorice, heavy metal music and shoots (shoe boot things), no idea why. I do like curries, 80s synth music, The Rolling Stones and the designs of Vivienne Westwood, no idea why either. Should it really bother me that somebody might say they don't like the Stones and they don't know why? No it doesn't.

There's something of the Anthea Turner about Candice, nice but a bit irritating, no reason not to like as such but yet somehow....well....I dunno

Don't forget that she has been pushed into the spotlight for only a few days so needs time to settle down. She has appeared on Bake Off for a couple of months but few outside her close family even knew she was on the programme so she was not getting any public or media attention during that period.

Anyone watching the Bake Off Class of 2015?

Reminds me just how engaging and top notch the last series was.
Even Mary was emotional at the end.

This year's comes nowhere near.

Just watched Class of 2015.
I think this series was certainly the best one they did. This year's was ok, but not so many stand out moments or likeable contestants.
I remember really rooting for Mat last year, then swapping allegiances to Nadiya.
Oh, and Sandy is still as unlikeable as ever...

Yes and it reminded me of what a hipster cliché Stu was. "I'm not a royalist but...", "Madeira is really boring..." etc. etc. Yawn!

I checked out his food blog and he is trying to raise funds to film a pilot. Apparently it will be unique because it will feature exciting new recipes and have a celeb guest come in every week to cook their favourite recipe. Er, Stu, that is a well-trodden idea!

I know who she reminds me of now .. Amy Childs. That horrid childish voice.

Seems she is a bit of a copy cat what with Naydia's peacock.

I thought so too but nobody really seemed to care. I know peacocks are synonymous with the Tudor era but it was just too close to Nadiya's for me. That was one of Nadiya's most popular bakes with Paul and Mary so I find it hard to believe that Candice didn't note their reaction to it and try to emulate it.

I much preferred Jane's tudor cake. More original and beautifully executed.

What a shame there doesn't appear to be any masterclass episodes this year, I used to like watching Paul & Mary make the various technical challenges in the series. At least we have some christmas episodes to look forward to.

I haven't had the chance to watch the final yet, but I managed to catch who the winner was online and found out it was Candice. I can't say I am surprised, it was obvious from the start with all of the camera shots etc. that she was chosen to be the "one"
