Ali was robbed!!! What's the point of having 3 rounds if they just judge it on the showstopper.

It's happened before though, when the showstopper is just SO good that that person has to win. I do think that the showstopper carries more weight though; say rounds one and two carry a maximum of three points, and round three carries six point.

Mary was nearly in tears and said it was the best cake she'd tasted on Bake Off.
That is quite some accolade, and probably tipped the scales (if you pardon he pun!)

Tbf, Mary Ann also had the Paul handshake.

Yes a recurring feature but only a problem when the technical side of it is overlooked in favour of the spectical. In this case I think the technical was superb (according to holly and berry) so not a problem.

Although I would have prefered a joint winner result, with Ali.

Mary-Ann's first round was comparable with Ali's (they both got the handshake), so I guess it just came down to technical v showstopper. When Mary said Mary-Ann's cake was the best she had ever tasted, and Ali's were over baked, I couldnt see how it could go any other way. Shame for Ali though. I hope tonight's lot perform as well otherwise we'll all be saying Ali should have been in the other round!

Mary Ann,s showstopper was superb and just edged her ahead of Ali who was a little unfortunate to be pipped at the post. I was a bit disappointed with Cathryn was expecting her to have perfomed better and Norman was well er Norman and performed as expected. A glimpse of what we will be missing next year.

Cathryn was let down by making a couple of silly mistakes - not turning the oven on then adding baking powder, perhaps others?

He's using pea flour. Anyone heard of that? And why would you use it?

Mmmm.. I always thought his gingerbread barn was a bit of a cheat. Changing the story half way through 'cos your original plan went completely up the spout is fine if it's just for the family, but in the bake off semi final...

Who won that time anyway?
