Well - end of an era.

BBC Bake Off has been fabulous as has the DS thread (for the most part!) - so thanks for all the fun.

Thank you and goodbye. Awwwww.
Mary getting teary eyed at the end. Affected me too! Damn that bloody production company.

Somehow, I think the next Bake Off thread will be a rather grumpy affair!

I think that was at the final of the main series. Sad to watch the very last Bake Off.

Was never that fond of Chetna or James but liked the other two. Anyway, loved the tribute at the end.

'Canoepé.'

To do canapes and then 36 bitty things for the show stopper didn't really work for me. It would have been nice to let the contestants free to produce a proper big bake for the showstopper. Bit too much like a party catering episode.

The clip was actually at the final when Nadiya won . Edited in to the tribute

Tonight they seem to have chosen people who had "incidents" in the past - Custardgate, Baked Alaska-gate, Mel leaning on someone's bake etc.

Ha ha! Right, because the previous ones have been all sweetness and light.

Right person won that, Chetna definitely deserved it. Enjoyed the two Christmas bake offs, now over to Channel 4 to make a complete pigs ear of it.

Really pleased for Chetna - I loved her when she was in the series.

Thanks Mary, Mel, Sue, and all the contestants, for years of pleasure

Just seen the farewell best bits on iplayer.

Mary's bit at the end broke my defences
Bake Off has been a triumph of broadcasting.

Just finished watching them both. End of an era, one I wish I hadn't only just discovered this year.

Part 2 just highlighted above all else how this show can't continue without Mel & Sue.

Wholeheartedly agree, it just will not work with Alan Carr & Scarlett Moffat presenting

It was lovely but that clip of Mary was actually filmed just after Nadiyas win in 2015 . It was nicely edited into the tribute !

No, lots of names have been circulating but nothing has been said by Love or Channel 4 though I suppose it is possible they have been leaking names to see what reaction they get. All the names I have seen have been dreadful.

Given the BBC are standing firm on the 'gardening leave' clause, we won't see Bake Off again for 18 months anyway. So even if they announced someone now things could change by the time they came to film. I'd expect the contract with the new hosts to be sorted out a couple of months before filming starts, and they'd be daft to announce something before any contract is signed.
