Apparently, according to the Daily Mail, so maybe not, all of this year's contestants are kind of professional bakers already, with their own cooking blogs and artisan shops.
Even if that is pure Mail anti-Beeb propaganda and I suspect it could well be, I think the innocence of the first few series' has left the show, there are no more total novices making burnt catastrophes or chocolate cakes the size of "breeze blocks" sadly. It is all a bit too planned and knowing now. They need to take it to a new country perhaps. |

I was just reading in the Mirror Online, that the very first contestant in the 1st series, Mark, passed away in 2013. I always wonder what happened to previous contestants, I remember he cried when his bake didn't go well, and Sue was lovely with him, I always remember that.

Apparently, lots goes wrong in the first Showstopper challenge tonight.
Several have now got businesses and professional websites, but this series was filmed several months ago and much has taken place since the filming. They have to cash in quickly before next year's lot come along. I too would love updates on all the previous contestants. We see Richard Burr, Frances Quinn and obviously Nadiya but it would be interesting to see what the others are doing. First series final 2.7m viewers last year's 13.5m and PH has said none of them will leave the BBC if the programme goes elsewhere after 2017, so, fingers crossed

Cake Week tonight. I have seen a few articles over the past couple of weeks all suggesting that the contestants don't bond quite as quickly this year - hope it's not going to go all unnecessary on us!
