There were more innuendoes than bakes in this episode

I know! I love binge-watching shows. How many have I missed?

I have never been so stressed just watching other people bake things. I don't know how Louise didn't just cry in despair.

Still loved it though.

This is series 7 so you have 6 series to catch up on.

I have loved every one.

Did someone go tonight?
They showed star baker, then we saw next weeks trailer, don't know what happened

Louise went - she had a bad weekend and the church collapsing was the final straw.

Pity there were so many showstopping disasters. I was looking forward to see some stunning scenes but only few were good.

Mel announced both the star baker and the one leaving. Perhaps it blended into one for you.

Although i think the raised eyebrow at the carpet eating line was better.

Like the blended pun, but no we didn't see it, I did think she would go, will have to watch closer next week

I am surprised Val is still there, she really does seem out of her depth in comparison to the other contestants. I suppose the technical challenge saved her.

Ah was it family? I wondered if it may have been due to Victoria Wood. She passed away in April. Not that it matters of course.

Thought that Andrew deserved star baker and that Val should have been eliminated.

Yep glad Eddie Redmayne had a better week, thought he might be vulnerable after last week. Looking at the trailer for next week this show is more Grand Designs than Bake Off, might play to his engineering strengths.

Louise left on a very sad note, jokes aside I felt really bad seeing what happened to her showstopper. Her wedding next year and she tried to construct the church she is getting married in and I hope its not a bad omen that the building was not holding up and kept collapsing I almost wish she had constructed something else and even if it fell and wasn't holding up and she left at least it wasn't to do with her marriage/upcoming nuptials.

For the showstopper I liked Candice's pub with all the intricate detailing outside and as well as everything inside she thought about and it came off, everyone from Mary and Paul incl. thought she had taken on too much of a challenge but she proved them wrong they had to give her star baker for proving them wrong for doubting her. I like her she's a look alike to the actress that played Queen Margaery (Game of thrones) and Anne Boleyn (The Tudors) the actress's name is Natalie Dormer (just looked her up...) now I know who she looks like

Also I felt Kate the one that bakes things from her farm or garden most of the time is coming into her own and she seems to be up there with the best, although I noticed she gave a smug look to others whose bakes didn't come out well like hers. I don't know if that's only editing, others have mentioned it on here but maybe its just the way it was edited to show her with that look. But she also did a lot for her show stopper 3 types of gingerbread and the design was amazing it didn't collapse I don't know how she managed to glue it together in the end because during construction the trees kept collapsing, whatever glue she used worked in the end, although apparently the taste of ginger bread wasn't coming through on all three gingerbread flavors she made so that's what let her down from getting star baker.

Andrew was equally ambitious and his construction how he was putting everything together was very organised, really he put his engineering career to good work there...lol Well done to him!

The others were average, and Val just scrapped through, I know she is not as good as everyone else but she's really a good watch, I wish they could allow her to stay, but then again its a competition and if she isn't good next week and no-one else fails then she will have to leave.

By the way forgot to mention the Viennese whirl biscuits in the technical is from Mary Berry's recipe book and Benjamina, Kate and Selasi all said they had attempted them prior to the competion just because they know that Mary's technical challenges come from her recipe books that she's published, all though Paul does set technical challenges too I'm not sure if he has any recipe books out but this is a way the bakers can try everything before hand from Mary Berry's books and then ace the technical challenges.

That's how Kate and Benjamina decided to freeze the piped biscuits before putting in the oven to keep them firm and upright and they didn't collapse with the butter in the oven like everyone else. Well I think Jane who also was in the top 3 equally practiced from those books even though they didn't show her say like the other 3, but Selasi despite practicing he said he hoped he could remember how the recipe went exactly and he forgot the freezing element, did you hear Mary in the tent as they had the Viennese whirls with tea that there need to freeze the dough first prior to baking so she even knew by not incl. that information in the sketchy recipe she gave them to work with in the technical that's where most of them would become unstuck.

Thoroughly enjoying the series so far, although sad for Louise and the church wedding collapse.

I read it in an article, but who knows the reason for sure - I don't want to; just like when Mel missed a week a couple of years back. Sue joked about that, whereas Mel didn't tonight. Were Sue and Victoria close?

I know we are only a 'couple of bakes in' so to speak, but there does seem to be quite a lot of flapping and disasters going on!

Funny that Natalie Dormer should be mentioned because the reason I don't like her is that she has this sneering/superior look on her face all the time and although I don't think Candice does look like her she does I'm afraid have the same look.
At times it's like she is 'in' on some joke or something that the others don't know about.

That said, she did well with her gingerbread pub as did Andrew, think he is one to watch.

Can't remember his name but loved the pint of beer biscuits as well.

I'm sure Val was a contender for going home, but in all honesty, they just couldn't send her home over the collapsed church offering.

I really like Selasi and Candice, both weeks they have stepped in to help others, they seem lovely.

Val is mad as a box of frogs, not sure how much longer she will last but she is good telly. Paul tasting her gingerbread - bites sister's head off and says she tastes lovely!!

Kate is too stepford wife for me. Is she going to shoehorn a swallow in each week because there were some at her wedding. Bleurgh.

Innuendo a go go this week, DM readers will be up in arms.

Paul has had at least 7 baking books published, mainly about bread but covering baking in general as well.

Mary tends to set the technical challenge for cakey tasks, while Paul sets them for the more bready ones.

Yep it is comedy gold, the programme is seriously a sitcom in its own right. Whoever edits this programme deserves some kind of gong for piecing it together so cleverly as there must be untold hours of footage.

Don't know why but I've taken to this group of contestants as a collective more than past groups, there is something about the blend of personalities they have this year.

Enjoyed the programme
Right person went, for me
Kate comes across as smug
Candice hates being criticised
Val must go next week
I hate Viennese Whirls
