Not quite into this series yet. Don't know why. Candice is probably my least favourite - I like most of the rest.

Turns out I went to Uni with Tom. Didn't recognise him as he's lost a lot of weight. We didn't know each other very well.

My husband has just sat here complaining about Candice for the past ten minutes - I quite like her, she wears her heart on her sleeve, I like that.
I like Candice. When she is on her game she is really kind and steps in to help others. When it is going wrong she gets upset. As you say, a heart on her sleeve girl.

Val should have gone or Candice, think Michael going was an incorrect decision
They both did very well in the technical though, while their show stoppers were comparable.

Is it me or is anyone else thinking someone should fire the cameraman. All the shots are focusing on everyones faces and we can hardly see what they are baking. Do we need such. Lose up shots. It's driving me nuts. Why do they always have to change something that works. I may have to give this series up.

It was the technical that decided it. Michael was 7th / Candice 3rd / Val 1st. Think Paul would like to have sent Val home but with that 1st she secured another week.

I thought Andrew was unlucky not to get star baker. Good chocolate bread / 2nd in technical / good show stopper.

Well that is more the director/editor/director of photography than the camera operator, they just shoot what they are told to shoot.

Not the usual claims that any woman showing emotion is just doing it to seduce Paul!

Just caught up. A few thoughts:

Bloody Candice. Whimpered and whined herself through again. Her pout is getting on my pip. Overtones of Ruby emerging - urgh.

Poor Michael . He looked genuinely crestfallen.

Selasi. Hadn't noticed how pretty he is. Big arms. Gorgeous face.

Kate. 'Great Nana Cobbled'. Where the hell does Kate come from - a Catherine Cookson novel?

Val. I knew the minute they announced the technical that she would win it. She's the only one of a generation that made dumplings regularly.

I have a feeling Paul was not particularly fond of Candice. She reminds me of Ruby in series 4/5 with her pouts, her crying and her disappointing face when things not going well

Surprised Val lasted this long. She looked like a mess every single week

Well bread week didn't go very well did it!

Candice irritates the heck out of me, the constant mouth twitching thing and the pouting...grrr....won't be sorry to see her go.

Not a great overall standard for bread week, theres no one ive taken a dislike to but Candice is starting to grate with the tears and apologies every time her bakes don't come off. Take the criticism on the chin and come back stronger.

Candice grates on me with her pouting and crying ( Rubyesque )
Kate is so twee I find her annoying
Val is irritating with her jigging and "I don't have to listen to you " attitude.
Jane still reminds me of Hayley Cropper from Corrie ( even though I don't watch Soaps, I like Julie H ) but she's grown on me.
Benjamina looks fun
Shame for Michael but he was pretty poor this week
Tom and Andrew look like contenders
Selasi and Rav are both sweet and seem like lovely blokes.
I like both judges and presenters
I am really rubbish at batter.........I use a pre prepared mix for both waffles and pancakes ( waffle maker is best thing I've bought this year ) and buy Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings
Really enjoying this series ( and found I knew all their names by the end of episode 1 )
No clear frontrunner yet for me, but Candice or Val to go next

Don't like Val's attitude - "I make bread all the time, so just another batch then." I was hoping she'd make a complete mess of all the challenges.

Candice's pouting and other contortions of the mouth are getting on my nerves. It's like she's posing for photographs.

Don't mind any of the others, who just seem to be trying their best and getting on with it.

That's probably true though. It's not her fault she's good at making bread. Or, actually, it is

Am I alone in quite liking Val?
Besides the 'Mad Lizzie' aerobics moves, she's ok, isn't she?

She looks a bit like my mum, so I can't say anything against her I think she's alright. She does the best she can like everybody else, the rest in on the judges.

Grating, twee, annoying, saccharine.

Her and Kate need to be booted off, if I was a diabetic, I'd be in hospital now after last night.

It's the "I've done it for years so, it won't be a problem because I know all there is to know" attitude that gets me. A bit of humble "Well I've made bread for years, but I don't know what the technical challenge is so I could fail there." would be better.

There's a difference between being confident and being smugly over confident.

I think she was joking because she was nervous about it. GBBO isn't exactly a joke free zone. Being exposed to all those double entendres may encourage a person.

She's intensely annoying! I mean, quite funny at times, especially with the whole discussion with Mel about why there was only one elephant and dove but, essentially, they're making huge allowances for some horrible looking bakes. Mary, especially, appears to be making excuses (it's not a mess, it's informal'!) for her on a weekly basis, and she's scraping through. Plus, the super-salty bread that she bullsh*tted away should have been a death knell and, for anyone else, it would have been!

I accept that her technical bake was good, and her age/generation definitely meant that dumplings weren't an alien idea to her (my mum regularly makes stews with dumplings or cobbler, so I'm pretty familiar with how they work, but I can see how the younger bakers wouldn't know very much about them), but her other bakes were just awful, and have regularly been for the past 3 weeks. She is absolutely being kept in for 'comedy' value, and it's making me want to throw things at the TV!
