Same.
Now while I am unlikely to make bread, I am partial to a Yorkie pud so looking forward to next week! |

Err forgive me for asking but having read a few comments is GBBO as baking competition or a popularity contest?

Ditto, I liked Ruby until she went all feminist after the series finished. Candice is fine and seems to get on with the others - don't forget they spend time together off camera so I am sure there would be tensions visible if anyone was nasty or false on camera.
Maybe it just got blown up out of proportion, as these things often are.But Candice seems positive about the program, judging by her on going Twitter comments, I guess she had a better experience.

![]() Trouble is, we can't taste, smell or touch the food and only see small snippets of how they go about baking, so I guess it does become a popularity contest based on very little.

![]() It's primarily a baking contest where most of us are happy to see the best baker win star baker and for the worst baker to leave. As we cannot taste the bakes produced we also comment on the bakers' behaviour and personality, as that is human nature. Hope this has helped you understand

I wish I could warm to her, because it makes me feel ridiculously petty and churlish, but I can't.
She does seem to be extraordinarily self-obsessed. I honestly think that more or less all the other contestants are primarily interested in their baking. But all the pouting and playing up to the camera give the impression that Candice is primarily interested in herself. I think she really, really wants to be a celeb, and she thinks that Bake Off is a way of achieving it. |

I think there are far far easier ways of becoming a celeb if that's your prime motive |

Why is it funny to wear high heels? Some women wear them all the time ( even in the house) and your feet get so used to them that wearing flatties make your legs ache. On the other hand.....maybe she's tiny and needs them to see above the counter

![]() Actually even the walk to the gingham alter is quite precarious - I was convinced she was going to go arse over tit on Wednesday and chuck her bread all over Paul and Mary. |

First time posting in the Bake Off thread! *waves* (please be gentle with me lol)
Am I the only one who doesn't really understand why Tom got star baker? I rewatched and his signature loaf was criticised (Chelsea Buns stuck together) and his show stopper wasn't as good/elaborate as some of the others (such as Brownie Group leader lady (forget her name!) and Andrew). I love Andrew

![]() Having made the mistake of wearing 4 inch stilettos in my younger days, I've been told by my podiatrist that trainers are the best things you can wear because they support and cushion your feet completely all day - I now have a choice of either trainers or hospital made shoes! Guess which I choose. |

I like Candice, but I thought she was a bit inappropriately dressed for a baking session this week. She looked more like she was going into a high powered office job.

Yes, I was quite surprised by Ruby once she left. Everybody on the program, presenters and amateur bakers alike, will get abuse on social media, that is unfortunately a fact of life. But I couldn't understand why she seemed to see the program and it's viewers as the enemy. Makes you wonder what happened while they where filming it.

Strange you say that because she reminds me of Charlene from last year's Apprentice. It's the lips and lipstick! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/prof...charleine-wain |

I think I started a trend of people remembering Ruby!
Totally agree with you. I seem to remember the creature called Mary Berry a 'Victorian relic'. Ah well, better that than a whining talentless non-entity, eh Rubes.

She's still writing in the Guardian (and ranting elsewhere). Her attempt at Jaffa cakes looks awful:
