Is it me or is anyone else thinking someone should fire the cameraman. All the shots are focusing on everyones faces and we can hardly see what they are baking. Do we need such. Lose up shots. It's driving me nuts. Why do they always have to change something that works. I may have to give this series up.
I thought that last year - only saw tiny parts of the bakes and a lot of interviews were of just one side of their face with a lot of garden landscape filling the screen. Bizarre. If there's one thing I love about Masterchef, it's the camerawork - divine.

yes, thank you! I said this previously but no one seemed to agree
We can't taste, smell or touch the bakes and only get very short clips of how they go about baking (especially the early episodes) so at least give us good along look at what they look like!

but please don't fire the cameraman/woman - fire the director!
or at least ask them nicely to change things

it's actually spelt 'bake' off. As in 'why don't you go bake yourself... a nice apple crumble'.

happy to help.
With a real crumble - sugar, flour and proper full-cream butter. Yum.

mmmm, yum!

... damn it, now I'll have to make myself a desert - I was doing so well with my daily brown rice, celery and water...

I am looking forward to next week although batter i consider as cooking not baking if its in the form of yorkshires, pancakes etc
Batter. What a weird choice. Although there are quite a few cakes that can be made from batter. Are those German dumplings considered baking? Were they poached or did they bake in the pan with the lid on? PS I see the recipe says steamed.

She's still writing in the Guardian (and ranting elsewhere). Her attempt at Jaffa cakes looks awful:

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...w-to-make-them
They look amateur and yes she is still ranting on Twitter. A woman who disagreed with got called a c*nt.

Andrew was robbed and you could tell by Tom's expression, he was not expecting to win it!
I love Andrew
He seems really nice, but for some reason he reminds me of Dougal from Father Ted. Not Ardal O'Hanlan, actually Father Dougal...

Dammit! All I'm going to see is Dougal now, thanks a bunch for that!

Funnily enough Ted being a bit of fame seeker I could actually see attempting to apply for the show...Only for Dougal, Mrs. Doyle and even Father Jack to end up there instead.

Anyways back on topic!

Whilst admittedly Michael's was no where near the best, I however don't think he deserved to go this week but then that's just me.

Michael looked handsome on Extra Slice. Pity he had to go. BTW I can't imagine drinking 99% alcohol, I had 70% and it was pretty strong already.

Ideally I would like to see a male contestant win.
Still think the decision to eliminate Michael was unfair and wrong

Not a fan of Kate, Candice and Val

Didn't he look different on Exra Slice

Kate is to sickly sweet, Candice I cannot stand, Val seems a tad mad.

Here's hoping it is a male winner this year.

Ginger and Rev are definitely gay.
Sorry I am late to the party, but am just catching up on all of the episodes.
Totally agree, my gaydar is pinging at those two! lol

There is something about Candice I dislike...I just can't put my finger on it.
Val defo should have been voted off.

But all the pouting and playing up to the camera give the impression that Candice is primarily interested in herself. I think she really, really wants to be a celeb, and she thinks that Bake Off is a way of achieving it.

Spot on! I think that you have just nailed the reason why I dislike Candice. It's obvious she wants to be noticed and famous.

At least she'll have to do more than pouting and crying. It would be enough on other shows

Me three. The dancing baker. She is not the best, because in the end the best baker wins. But is good to keep in different characters as long it is not at the expense of a better baker.

Think Kate is a good Baker and will get to the final, but think Andrew and Tom will also be there.

Oh, you mean Betty Boop !! Maybe she'll apply to go on CBB next, it's full of Z listers anyway.

She's been involved with three hours of TV total. Is our celebrity culture that debased that such limited exposure already qualifies?

let's be blunt here - if she goes out next week, nobody will remember anything about her in a few months time. Maybe she'll publish a cook book or whatever, but the only GBBO contestants who make any splash at all are the finalists and usually only the winner.

Hands up who can remember off the top of their heads who went out on week four last year? And we're all fans of the show... GBBO is not a path to fame. Unless you win.

Was it Dorritt? She went fairly early but wasn't first.

Not sure. Quite a few do well out of it. Chetna for example and Martha. Some of the finalists have done really well too .. Holly, Richard, Ruby. There's no rhyme or reason to it ... some disappear without a trace and others have cookbooks and appear at the food shows and on TV. Not sure about Nancy but Edd, Jo, John, Frances and Nadiya have all done extremely well of course.

If you can get reasonably far ... then your life could change post Bake Off. I wonder if contestants have one eye on this now? There's a sort of Bake Off royalty ... some of them might fancy joining (I'm thinking ... Candice ... possibly Jane.)

Yet people think that they know enough about her from those three (very heavily edited and of course she was not on for the whole of the time) hours to make quite unpleasant comments about her.

Usually, after watching GBBO, I am inspired to do my version of one of the bakes - I made Viennese Whirls following the show the week before last, but last week (bread week), did nothing for me

I like all the blokes in this series, but not so keen on the women particularly Val. I don't know what it is about her but she gets on my tits.

I went to the theatre the other evening and saw Sue Perkins Spectacles show. In it she has a section where the audience shout out questions to her. Naturally enough, someone asked if Val won Bake Off. Of course she wouldn't be drawn to answering but threw the question back out asking if we wanted Val to win. There was a big shout of NO was the reply
