As much as some people on here hated her guts, sounds like she was a hit in the tent.
Also a really endearing farewell. |

Hard luck Val, but you were always more 'home baker' than 'star baker'. Glad you took it on though, you're just what the spirit of GBBO is about.
See you lot next week

What Val said was really touching and it was clear how much they all cared about her.

Val reminded me of a little bird... a garden bird like a wren or robin or something - quick movements, energetic, keen dancing eyes etc.

Hello everyone
,I haven't been here since I heard about what's going to happen next year with the show going to channel 4 and mel and sue leaving the show as well. definitely its going to be a different sort of show. Will have to wait and see what happens next year. When I came on I noticed everyone was just talking about the above and not what happened in that week. So I decided to come back later, when I really needed to, with my favourite Val leaving this week. I really liked her as a personality. Paul and Mary carried on making an issue of her bakes not being completed or not as polished as the others. Its really tough, I suppose that is why all of us don't go on this show because I'm sure we all are interested in baking and can be classed as amateur bakers but the pressure.....I'm going to leave it there. When she started to cry I was also tearing up, I'm glad she managed to hold herself together. When she said she bakes with love and gives to people her bakes I just felt she needed to add there that its not according to time, no matter how long it takes to get the perfect pie, biscuit, cake and present to family and friends that's how long it takes. I felt the timing issue really got her in the pie she bakes every week, the bakewell tart. she knew what to do without even reading that damn recipe, perhaps only the icing, but she was PANICKING, remove the pie casing too early on in the blind bake with the seeds, then later on again first one to take out her pastry to start icing, everyone else took theirs out later and as a result her tart wasn't baked underneath and the sides, Paul and Mary are looking for perfection its not like at home where you take it out of the tin see its not baked and put it back in the tin and bake it again, here she knew I need to cool it to ice it so never mind I will crack on with it underbaked underneath, which is a shame. Rav oh my god he survived Its crazy how he managed it...lol, that last show stopper with the two pastries perfect on flavor and perfect bakes as well. His been feeling guilty you can see it written all over him, when the others which are better in time management, flavors etc are coming out before him. His just been lucky that when he has a shocker someone else has a even bigger disaster...rofl.I was laughing like hell when I saw his bakewell tart one side fell out when he was taking out the tin....even Paul's face when he saw that tart oh my god, but its good in a way to keep him in because we get to laugh with his bakes, somehow it was better laughing at him because his a guy (is that sexist?) sorry, rather then Val, because when she didn't excel I felt bad for her and it made me sad rather then making me rofl like with Rav, I don't know how to explain it where it seems okay to laugh in his case but not hers. Candice our very own Naterlie Dormer, seems like she is going to win this competition now, one thing I love about her Candice is always congratulatory sincerely to her fellow bakers, whilst we see with Jane this week she was in competition with Candice right and did you see the way she was saying Star baker to Candice behind her back just as the judges are still judging her bake that its not sincere that congratulations to her fellow bakers, its a competition and she's tough, lets see whats going to happen. Next week those rosy cakes, I mean the show stoppers with the flowers looked amazing and I'm looking forward to watching so much....can't wait. |

Pity about Val, I did like her, but she had a bad weekend. Looks like Candice knows everything about handling sausages. Especially after all those things she did with her mouth when talking to Paul.

I know I blocked it out and only concentrated on her baking and how she encourages other bakers, but I noticed that too. What you are saying, iniitally others mentioned her flirting with selasi but I didn't see it but today I saw this and I don't know what it is its not happy look it looks cheap. |

I love him
![]() But even when he gets it done badly like those donut things in the batter week, where he made them round and bigger then everyone else...its still good telly. I think its because I'm finding it easier to laugh when the guys mess up. I hope the girls keep their winning ways. |

Every year there's someone that people get into their heads is giving Paul the eye (or vice versa). Given one year a large number of people said it about Ruby and what we now know about her private life, you should probably take it all with a massive pinch of salt.

Neff. My parents have two Neff ovens and a Neff induction hob.
Both amazing. They'd never go back. .... and I'm envious! They have a dough proving setting as well so I always wonder why the contestants use a separate warming drawer for proving. |

Well done Candice, but not really warming to you yet, maybe next week The bakers don't seem to be as friendly towards eachorher as past years. Maybe they're getting ready for 'bake off, fight for your life' |

Same, she annoys me with her single entendrese. It's Mel and Sue's job to do that and she's just not funny.

I have seen Selasi and others helping each other when time is running out and they are struggling; genuine smiles and congratulations when people get praise and lots of hugging all round. |
