I agree , he is just a pompous git anyway
His movement to the new show is a further disincentive for me to watch. |

I tend to agree with this.
I could see someone like James Martin easily filling the Hollywood role. |

Bit extreme to hate him for doing what 99% of us would do.
Hollywood making out that the others have betrayed the show...the makers of the show have betrayed the BBC by selling their soul to Channel 4. |

You say that but only 25% of the team did do it.

I was thinking James Martin too, don't love him, but better than Hollywood and has an easy way about him and a sense of humour and he is doing a show with Mary Berry so it seems a good fit I think.

Who is this Tom bloke and what justification is there for him being in such illustrious company?

Apologies for using a DM link - Cherish Finden is being touted as the possible Mary Berry replacement...
really? She was one of the reasons I couldn't take to Creme de la Creme (there were many others but she was one of them) |

Yep, pair a harsh, confrontational judge with Hollywood- a match made in hell. Sure to drive away the most ardent Bake Off fan as the whole tone of the show changes.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...terchef-potato Can I put 2 and 2 together for one moment and speculate that he might make an excellent judge for this new baking show (taking the place of Hollywood)? |

And I noted that Michel Roux Jr was back on the BBC this morning hosting Saturday Kitchen Live. Both sides seemed to have reconciled their differences.

I liken it to Antiques Roadshow. It used to have a mix of lower value items as well as high priced but now it just seems to be for the wealthy and I don't watch it so much now. |

The casting for the shows contestants will be interesting once it's on Channel 4.

He is not a specialist baker but sure he can turn his hand to it or they could move away from bread.
My money would be on MRJ at this point. Having seen his work in Michel Roux's Service, he can be kind as well as cutting, he stands no nonsense, and he has a sense of humour. BTW, he started off doing a pastry apprenticeship, and is a bit of a baker going by this report and video interview. http://m.bakeryinfo.co.uk/news/fulls...l_Roux_Jr.html Oddly enough, the last thing that I saw him in was in a series for Channel 4, so it might be rather ironic if the BBC snapped him up. |

If truth be told, there are few specialist bakers on TV, so they do either of the things that you suggest, or bring in a fresh face with the experience (which itself is very risky).
