BT Mobile offer unlimited minutes, texts and 20GB data for £21 per month down from £25 when I spoke to them the other day, I don't have BT Broadband or any other BT service, and you get discount If you're BT customer.

You can still get AYCE date on Three for £20 a month. You just need to sign up for a 12 month contract. I had a text yesterday offering me a £2 a month discount for a second line. If my lads sim only deal was up I would probably put him on that as £18 a month is a bargain.

Bit of a shame this, the £15 AYCE was never going to last, but to go to £25 so soon - clearly worried that contention and back haul was becoming an issue. Understandably so.

So, I think I'm going SIM only, I'm interested in seeing how much data I really use. I doubt its anywhere near 12GB, but I've kind of always seen AYCE as peace of mind. Not that you can drastically overspend on PAYG if you don't have a high balance anyway..

Also means I can bitch at them to try and get a femto box at home I suppose...Live in a dead spot. Three in touch does actually work a bit better on my new phone but its not great.

Yes, I've considered that, but he also tethers an iPad Pro and tethering is the problem with BT.

And it’s not PAYG on BT if PAYG is what you’re looking for.

All In One 25 is not the All In One 20 cost increasing in price.

For some from the end of the month with the All In One 25 becoming officially the only PAYG tariff with AYCE data they will suddenly be paying 10.00 more instantly for an extra 200 minutes worth of calls they are never going to use as they will have queued up several All In One 15’s to last them several them months before it changed to All In One 20. Perhaps some have still got a few All In One 15’s queued up to last them a while beyond 31st March so they won’t feel the effects of the upcoming PAYG tariff changes for quite a while yet.

A good idea is to top up your PAYG sim with as much money as you possibly can and purchase as many All In One 20 add ons as possible before 31st March so that you can still receive AYCE data at 20.00 per add on for a few months to come. I did that thing with the All In One 15 just before it changed to All In One 20 and it worked for me.

I notice they have given far less notice of the upcoming PAYG tariff changes compared to the notice they gave for the August PAYG tariff changes.

But you may not have to tether as BT mobile let you use their hotspots for free.

Anyone got a link to this BT 20 gig offer?

Maybe it’s one of the older PAYG sims he’s using.

Talking empirically, it works in this country but not with Feel Like Home abroad.

We did that as well, but only for 2 months. The problem with it is that if you use up the plan minutes then you end up with nothing in subsequent months.

I'm trying to leave 3.....have been on the phone for nearly an hour so far as they to persuade me - They are being deliberately difficult!!!!!!!!

Then write to them. I followed the instructions on the link below, changing it slightly because I wanted my PAC, three days later the PAC code was text to me

http://www.dave-thorp.me.uk/2013/02/...-the-easy-way/

I don't 'do' call centres unless I absolutely have to - life is too short plus it irritates them when you cut all ties with them, silently without giving them the opportunity to sit through their foundation level marketing training bullshit and have them pissing you around.

Keep a copy of the letter, hell photograph it in the envelope with a time and date stamp if you have to, and also get a proof of posting from the post office. Personally i'm in favour of keeping a nice neat paper trail, rather than a phone call which can't be produced should it ever need to be.

When I phoned up to get my PAC last month I was pretty blunt with them.
I basically said I know part of their job is to try to keep me as a customer however my mind is made up and that will not change so please can I have my PAC. I had to repeat that 2 or 3 times but I ended up getting my PAC after being on the phone for less than 15 mins. I refused to engage them on conversations about which network I am going to / why I am leaving, just that I wanted my PAC.

I saw a really good hint elsewhere, find the postcode for a hotel somewhere in the Scottish highlands and check three has no coverage there and say you are moving there for work. No signal at a location seems to mean they won't carry on trying to retain you and offering you a hundred and one rubbish deals.

Finally got the PAC thanks. They tried every trick in the book to keep me. They just don't listen.
I am moving to BT's £21 20gig deal! It's far more suited to me that it includes free connection to BT Hotspots which basically covers my internet at home!

It's getting hard to justify staying with Three now. They used to be very competitive on price but for whatever reason; no desire to grow numbers as much, ensuring a reduction in usage or even pricing themselves reasonably but not as competitive as before...

It's much more tempting to go with the Rolls Royce of networks now.. SIM only as I have a handset....

Any thoughts on anyone agreeing with me?

If you still want unlimited data then it's worth it, most of the time even with the price rises it's still a bit cheaper. People should do what's best for them though. Some that have left before and gone to other networks like Voda wished they hadn't, but some love it over on EE etc

I wouldn't want the caps, that's what keeps me on Three, just doing what I want with my phone and knowing I've pretty much got unlimited everything, speeds don't bother me if they are around 5Mb/s or more I'm happy.

The price increases (from All in one 15 to All in one 20), and now the amount of data on the All in one 20 (ex 15) is suddenly now limited.

Can one really be sure now that there won’t be another price hike and data reduction of the now All In One 20 a few months further down the line?

20.00 for AYCE data on PAYG after they increased the price of it was fine. But now you are forced to pay a second extra fiver for the second time in the space of a few months if you want to still receive AYCE data but also receive an extra 200 minutes worth of calls that you are unlikely to ever use.

12GB of data per month for AYCE data on PAYG for 20.00, you may think still that’s fine nobody else does it on a permanent basis (it still more than meets most peoples needs on PAYG from the 31st), but the seeds seem to have been sown now of further and further data reductions and price hikes on the former All In One 15 package.

I don’t wish what was the All In One 15 eventually becoming the All In One 25 with a limit of 6GB of data on offer at a later date, and then a later date still becoming the All In One 30 with a 3GB data limit. I wouldn’t call three competitive if they continually do such things to a very popular plan because it would eventually turn into a very unpopular plan instead.

I appreciate some folk on here are heavy users, but 12GB is a significant allowance.

So what do you consider to be the "Rolls Royce of networks"?

At a guess I'd say EE. You pay more, undoubtedly, but the network is considerably more robust and about to get a whole lot better with VoLTE and 800MHz access (with 800 set at a higher priority than 3G, at least for now).

EE has of course benefitted hugely from the hard work that Three and T-Mobile did building 3G networks and with data in mind, when Orange sat back doing about as much as Vodafone and O2 at the time. But jump forward and EE is clearly ahead of where Three now is in most cases - because it benefits from all that hard work from Three/T-Mobile, plus the 4G stuff built on top.

Even £25 is very good value for unlimited data.

You can watch videos in glorious, crystal clear HD for hours for less than £1 a day. Compared to the Three 321 SIM at 1p a minute where it would cost £2 just to watch one YouTube video that uses 200mb data.

How much could Three charge for unlimited data before it isn't considered good value?
