I'd be surprised if it was as late as May.
Could be back to the Easter weekend though (April 15th in 2017). |

He must have been briefed about some of the questions he was going to be asked and what answers he could give. Very dull otherwise if he kept saying "I don't know". I agree with Corwin, though - I would be surprised if it was May. Disappointed too if I'm honest. The Easter/early spring start was always my favourite time of year for each season to première.

Will this article ever be translated into English as I don't speak or understand a word of Portuguese.

I'd love a January (BBC New Year Season) start someday, just to see how it would fair in that slot, away from any Strictly.
Most of Pertwee's series and all of Davison's series started in January and a new series of 12 stories would take us from the New Year to the Easter holidays. |

why would he make it up? LOL I didn't say that he was making it up. It's just that he is unlikely to have the final say (or indeed any input) in any scheduling decision, and schedules often do change (and the channel schedulers are the ones who make the changes). And with over a year to go, there;s plenty of scope for changes.
So, until I hear it from a more reliable BBC scheduling source, I'll regard this as simply a possibility at this stage. |

The date will be announced well in advance by BBC America. Then BBC1 will confirm they're showing it on the same day 3-4 weeks out. To be honest I'm not sure how much control BBC1 schedulers have over it.

Well, maybe you could translate that article then! Because it's got me stumped.
It's obviously not perfect but here's the translation Quote:
Recently, calls for more diversity of gender and ethnicity in the main roles of pop culture have intensified - just see the overwhelming success of Rey and Furious as protagonists of Star Wars and Mad Max , or the good reception to the fact that Idris Elba, a black actor was tipped to be the next James Bond .
Thinking about this movement, we asked Peter Capaldi , the current star of Doctor Who , if he would like to see a woman or a black (or a black woman) as the next Doctor. In our interview, he said yes, but he prefers to focus on the current owner of the role - himself. "I think it would be great, but that's a discussion in which I enter not much because I'm the Doctor, and the only doctor in which I am interested at the time I myself" , said Capaldi in an exclusive interview with Omelette . "I think he she, what ... (NT: it)., can be anything, because the Doctor is not human and still think it's great if the series reflect the diversity of the modern world, and I think we should reflect. .. But for now, the Doctor's me. " In the same interview, Capaldi revealed that already know who the next companion , and both have met to work on the tenth season, which will have 12 episodes and premiere forecast for the UK between April and May 2017. Chris Chibnall , the substitute Steven Moffat as the main producer, takes over from 2018. In Brazil, the ninth season of the program is displayed by the pay channel Syfy , Friday, 21h, with view to the original audio soon after 22h. The series is also broadcast on TV Cultura Monday through Friday, at 20h. |

It's obviously not perfect but here's the translation Thanks for the translation - looks as if the thread title is a little more optimistic, as the wording (if translated correctly) has a forecast start date, so it's very much open to movement. |

May would be surprisingly late. It might have no competition then but it'll also have no support. It'll run into June and possibly July which aren't exactly prime viewing times!

Easter weekend would be a good time to premiere series 10.
If they finish filming February/March will have just enough time. Hopefully after the 2016 Christmas special we will get a sneak peek of S 10 and the new companion in action. |

That's later than I expected, quite a gap between series 9 and 10, I was guessing they would go January, it would of been a good time to start, or at the latest start in March... May is late and I think not a good time to start as the whole series will be airing smack bang in the warmest sunniest stay-outside months of the year, which is not great for a show airing around 7pm.... in-fact its terrible scheduling.
I can understand getting away from the busy sept-oct-nov which has caused Who to be pushed about but going to prime summer time isn't a good alternative, that's why I thought they would be aiming for January as that would be an excellent time to start the run, its still cold and its after the late year and Xmas madness, and by the time the run is at its end that's when the days start to get longer and warmer/sunnier, the slot is quieter and starting after Xmas might help give the show a boost as more people watch TV around that time and it could be possible to grab/interest some extra people... the Xmas episode could be used as a pre season taster/promotion for the main series.. But I guess they are working by their schedule and when they can get it ready by and April/May could be the earliest they can do (which is kind of rubbish, a year and a half from when the last series finished) Or perhaps that's what TPTB think is the best time to air it and they don't want a January or even March start, who knows... all I can say is in my opinion if it does start in May that's not good for optimizing the best ratings possible... and starting in April is not that much better but would help the first chunk of episodes I guess... |

The problem also is our climate... May is now a warmer month than it use to be, the summer time has become a longer period, once we reach May we are in that stay-outside all day period, so its not ideal to start from there IMO... |

I'd be v surprised if Series 10 starts as late as May. Think we'll be back to the first episode debuting around early/mid April. If they're starting filming in May for a 13 episode/9 month block, that's just reverting back to the series 1 to 6 'template'. Think that's pretty likely. Just hope we have some news regarding filming/new companion to discuss soon!

Starting in May when, as people have said, there's a couple of months of often nice weather coming up doesn't seem ideal. Also it would clash with Wimbledon which is potentially an issue for one weekend. |

If they're starting filming when they said they were then it should be finished in December and hence ready to broadcast in January.

As I said earlier, they might finish filming but there is still post-production work to do (editing, sound, effects etc), and some episodes are shot out of sequence. So a January start might not be feasible.
Quote:
Naive way of looking at it.
They normally start filming in January and start broadcasting in August. A gap of eight months. Similarly, if they started filming in May then eight months later would be January. The last episodes are often still being filmed whilst the show goes out. Like Merlin before it, they film generally in blocks of three episodes to ensure they've got the early episodes ready on time. Post production is obviously happening in line with filming. |

It's very easy for the audience to sit back and say "it should be done by x point in time, hurry up" but a lot of work and effort has to go into creating a television show and it doesn't always happen in such a strictly specific amount of time. Besides which, the general intention seems to be to air the show starting from spring 2017.
