The show's slogan should be: when they think, they mostly tank.

No silly hand gestures/dance moves from the contestants today.
That wrecked my theory that the silliest intro move guarantees winning the show

I hope we can have a thread like this for The Code next week.
I'm guessing the questions will be similarly "Think Tank" easy, as myself and a friend had an audition for this show. We both answered all of the researchers 'test' questions, both got shortlisted and then heard nothing.
This has happened a few times lately and I'm wondering if getting the answers wrong and being a bit of a tit at the auditions is the way to go about getting on these shows now.

Hope we're all dressing in black today for the last episode!

Do you think they'd ever allow a question in the first round which all the Tankers agreed on? (If they could manage that of course.)

Edited to Add: We just had Jackie 'sure' on an answer only to be wrong. In fairness it was south of Stoke.

.....last in the current series.
See you next time.....

Think Tank shall return!

A grand finale, that.

I hope it does come back, as with some tweaks, I think it could be a solid game show.

Well that's the end of Think Tank.

Was it any good? Well, not really. Parts of it, as I've said, were just silly. Such as having to ask a Tanker to help you when you know the answer. Two Tankers having to "argue their case" for their answer, when there's every chance the one that's got the wrong answer know it's wrong anyway. The silly hand gestures. The applause after every single correct answer (when a lot of the questions really aren't that difficult). And so on. Plus the general concept of having people on a panel whose general knowledge, on the average, was no better than the contestants.

Having said all that it did have a certain charm. By the end of the run I didn't think it was as bad as I did at the start. Having the same group of people on every day was probably a good thing. You got to know them, and how good (or in some cases, not so good) their knowledge was. That became part of the entertainment - to marvel at some of the things they didn't know, and the answers they'd come up with.

Will it come back? It might. The obvious question, if it does, is do they keep the same Think Tank, or bring a new lot in. You could bring in Tankers with better general knowledge, more quizzing type people. But I don't think it would work. It would just be a case, as somebody said above, of the contestant asking the Tanker the question and the Tanker, in most cases, just telling them the right answer. The essentially amateur element of the Think Tank would be lost.

The thing is, even the best of them like Arminel and Max got some questions wrong when asked for help. There'd be quite a few I'd keep, but I'd probably lose Anisha and Tristan straight away as their knowledge was far too limited so that forcing someone to pick them was just unfair. I don't know about Jackie (I know I joke about the North thing, but I don't remember her standing out for gettin much right). The older guy who was Welsh, I'm not sure if his knowledge was very helpful. Of course I understand they want a mix of ages and backgrounds. Just upping their basic level of knowledge to someone like Diane or Lucy across the Think Tank would make it a bit better.

Of course, there has to be a chance that the Think Tank might not know but not a likelihood they won't.

I'd keep Abi because she looks a bit like Anita Rani.

And for her answer of "Nobby" for the Grand National question.

In future if I get a horse racing question in a pub quiz (not that there's that many racing questions, and they're usually pretty easy if you know anything about the subject), and it's asking for the name of a horse, and I don't know it, I'm going to put Nobby.

Of the current Think Tank, I'd probably keep most of them. There's three or four I'd maybe change. But they shall remain nameless.

You can tell some of the answers given in round 2 are purposely stupid so that the contestant knows not to bother with it.

It would be funny one day when the 'stupid' answer turns out to be correct.

Sometimes, the stupid answer is correct.

I read in the paper a few weeks ago that the last man alive who fought in the American Civil War didn't die until 1956. He was alive for 11 years after the end of the Second World War, and died only thirteen years before man walked on the Moon. I would never have thought it was as late as that. The Civil War ended in 1865. I think he was 106 or something when he died. You don't think of people from that era living as long as that. But of course an awful lot of men fought in the civil war. So perhaps it's not so surprising that one of them lived to that age.

Not that that's got anything to do with Think Tank.

Problem with the strategy is that the contestants have never seen the show before and are only just finding out who the real thickos and the slightly less thick "Tankers" are.
That's a good point. I think Bill does give a hint of what they may be good at but it's not like they've watched 20 shows with them like the viewers have.

It would be interesting to know if the contestants waiting to play get to watch the shows being recorded.

I've done a good few quiz shows in the last 20 years and that's never happened to me, but I'm not saying it couldn't happen.

Back later this year with an increase in the number of episodes
http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-...-Tank-series-2
"we are very pleased to bring the team back together from all across the UK to help even more contestants in the next series"
implies the same tank are returning.

For people looking to be a contestant, on the Twitter site they say " Details on how to apply coming soon"

I would only want to be a part of the Think Tank; not a contestant.

I actually had to look up Bill Turnbull the other day to remember what this quiz was called
It completely went out of my mind.

I think it would be a shame to have the same format and tankers. There were obvious flaws with the format.
I guess if it is the same tankers they think there is some audience familiarity with them.

Starting again today but each week 3 new episodes Monday to Wednesday then 2 repeats Thursday and Friday.

No sure if they will break the series up but with 30 new episodes and 20 from the previous series they can continue for 10 weeks.

There's a clip on the think tank bbc website of the new series. It shows that the same people will be there with a new addition called Jordan. Not sure if there will be more new additions of if it's only Jordan that's new
