An OK idea for a show. Some of the 'Think Tank' might get on my nerves after a while. Do we know if they change from time to time?

Cleve is really really familiar. Sure I've seen him on something before but can't put my finger on it. Anybody else recognise him?

Ah actually I do now. He was a contestant on Perfection. He's on the app game as well!

She's at that awkward age. The hormones start changing so it's entirely feasible.

So, that was Think Tank, was it? It makes Decimate and Pressure Pad, look like Only Connect.

The cringiest bit was the '1951' Archers/Coronation Street question. Or maybe the Bjorn Borg answer. I nearly forgot to stop dunking my custard cream in the excitement.

The quizzing community are certainly cringing at this show.

It's a half decent idea if the people "helping" the contestants were actually of Egghead-level (remember how they were used in Are You An Egghead?), but they seem to just be mouthpieces for ridiculous multiple choice options...

There was a show a few years ago called Judgemental which IIRC used other people as a sounding board for contestants to answer questions, but they at least seemed to know stuff.

We should also remember that the last quiz show that attempted a cast of "characters" was C4's Benchmark, which was swiftly yanked off the air due to dismal ratings

Looks like they're permanent..........

Bill Turnbull hosts as three contestants compete to win a cash prize, aided or hindered by the answers of a regular cast of contributors known as the Think Tank.

I wonder how much they get paid for appearing? They've already recorded twenty shows. Maybe they're trying to build them up as celebrities, like the Eggheads and the Chasers. Describing them as a cast makes them sound like they're actors pretending to be pizza waiters etc.

ADDITIONAL:- If the photo on here is anything to go by

http://tv.bt.com/tv/tv-news/think-ta...11364047156733

it looks as if they have a pool of twelve people for the Think Tank.
The Eggheads and Chasers are professional quizzers though. These people are nobody's and pretty thick ones at that.

It must be fixed somewhat for them to come up with some of the answers that they give.

Kaftanman, do you think that Think Tank will become a cult favourite? Personally, I can't wait to see today's 'episode'.
You could well be right there AncientIDTV! Afraid I missed today's show ... Hope you enjoyed the custard cream though!

The most cringeworthy moment in quiz history.

Thanks to this post I watched episode 2 on I-player, thinking "I'll give it a second chance", "Maybe it will be better than yesterday" etc etc ...

My mistake.

From those famous Brits Bjorn Borg and Pete Sampras to John Peel founding the NHS ...

And that alleged "doctor" still hasn't got one right. Also, she claims to come from Wales but pronounces "Aneurin" incorrectly. A Welsh doctor mispronouncing the forename of the Welsh founder of the NHS? Yeah, right. And his statue in Cardiff does not point upwards as she indicated.

Can't help thinking there's something VERY fishy going on here. Maybe some or all of the "think tank" are not what they profess to be...

Oh, and it was even more dismal than the first episode.

I think if I was selected to go on as part of the Think Tank and was forced to say answers that I quite clearly knew were wrong, I'd ask to leave the show

Hold on, just caught the start of this rather than seeing bits. What's with the stupid moves from the contestant at the start?!?! This really is an atrocious quiz show.....

What is the J in JK Rowling? "At least they all begin with J". She obviously watched yesterday's episode before this one was recorded.

It's really sad (both meanings of the word) that a contestant thought Dunkirk was in Scotland.

It seems to be another of what I call "Hello Dale" (as in Winton) quiz shows, where contestants continuously dither over the choice of answers when it is blatantly obvious that they know the correct one. Is this supposed to make the quiz exciting? - No, just fake.
I absolutely hate that, just say the answer! All these daytime quizzes are awful, just filler rubbish.

What on earth was all that about?

Who are these "Think Tank" people? Are they supposed to be good quizzers? One of them said he thought Napoleon was killed in battle. And he offered up Napoleon as an answer to the St Helena question because he was, "The only famous person I really know from that time."

As others have said it seems to be all about the Think Tank, being, in that terrible TV show cliché, "characters"., that is, they waffle on in a generally uninteresting and non-amusing way before giving their answer.

The head to head was bizarre. Do they have to consult one of the Think Tank even if they know the answer? It looks as if they do. That's just daft. The bloke knew that St George's Day was in April, he even knew the exact date, yet it seemed he still had to consult one of them to "back him up", so they could knock them out of the round and couldn't be used again.

Not to mention the zero tension on the last question when the bloke had no idea of the answer and basically just made a name up, but we still had to go through the, "So, have you won an extra thousand pounds on the impossible question" rigmarole. No,he obviously hasn't, he just made up a name.

Not one of the more interesting game shows I've seen, to say the least.

About the only way you could possibly turn this into a mildly interesting show is if you got rid of the Think Tank altogether. Which would kind of defeat the purpose of the whole show.

The Grauniad gave this a really good review. I'm wondering if she's watching the same show as me.

Clearly the bar for university entry has been set way too low, if someone that's made it to university doesn't know that Dunkirk is in France. Has she never heard of the evacuation of Dunkirk? Perhaps she thought it was a secret plan to rescue the English from the grasp of the SNP post independence!!

Don't even start me on the idea that the greatest Britain of all time as voted for by the public was....David Beckham.

For my intellectual fix I think I'll tune into Tipping Point!

I can't wait to get back to work; I think I'll delay retirement a bit longer too!

I know I started this thread, but I have already given up Think Tank. I thought it might prove to be one of those 'so bad it's fun to watch' shows, but it really is wretched. It is utter bilge imo.

In fairness the lady in the top left of the Think Tank today with the unusual name was pretty good.
