I said the show the other day was better as there was less of her. I did like the 'bants' between Kath and Kelly on the BBC show but sometimes when its her and Iain I'd rather hear the occasional contribution as it sounds sometimes she tries to hard. She is a very attractive lady mind you.
They admitted on one of the shows recently that they could read a string of positive comments but it would be a single negative one that would stand out and play on their minds. I suppose that's human nature. I must be quite unusual cos I couldn't give a flying monkey what anyone thinks of me.

I think his shows are the way they are due to the stations policy, having said that I do wonder if he was approached by TalkRADIO & wasn't interested, perhaps he likes the stability, this is the longest he's been with a station.

I began listening to Iain Lee tonight at 10pm but switched across to Nick Abbot within half hour, but as he was talking about the damned EU I switched off and back to Iain for a bit longer, before watching Top Of The Pops instead on BBC4.
I think in future I will make Friday evening Nick Abbot, as Iain has the other 4 weekdays to tune in already. Only when I've got nothing better to do on those nights of course. I don't stick with radio come what may. I'm off to download a Howard Hughes podcast to go to bed with now. Next TalkRadio appointment will not be until his show on Sunday at 10pm. I see nothing worth the bother until then. |

To me, the radio schedule is largely irrelevant as I can listen to anything, any time because of the Listen Again (although I mostly listen to my recording of the stream because it is in better quality and there are no split second gaps every half hour). Listening live is only important if you want to call or text in. And sometimes in that case, you can phone in the next day.

With all this in mind, I’ve been nerdily excited about two new launches - Virgin Radio and Talk Radio. It’s peculiar that as everything else in my media landscape changes, two old-school radio stations have bloomed, featuring styles of show not much different from the 1980s when Mike Reid and Kid Jensen ruled. Yes, we might listen via apps nowadays, and re-listen on demand if we like. And we can text in our messages and there may even be a Best Bits podcast. But the basic principles of radio are here - roughly understandable in every corner of the world.
We want a breakfast show host who’s ever-so slightly wacky, and a drive-time buddy to keep us company on the way home. We want a late-night phone-in staffed by an errant DJ with a hectoring tone who lures night creatures into the open. Iain Lee’s new show on Talk Radio from 10pm-1am is very good. |

I may have missed this from elsewhere, but looking at Kath's Twitter today it appears that talkRADIO was always the plan and they would have left without Iain being pushed.

I am a big fan of this TalkRadio, well 2 shows in particular. Iain Lee and Jon Holmes - both very different shows but make me want to tune in live which I haven't had that urge for years with the invention of Listen Again

Loving the show tonight. I've only listened to a few shows so far but I'm going to be listening a lot more.

I was listening to the excellent Howard Hughes last night.
Iain has replayed that prank call about Marilyn Monroe. I've had a long-standing interest in Old Holywood and over the years I've collected quite a number of books on the subject. There have been lots of things written about Marilyn and no-one can ever really know for sure what's true and what isn't. I've read about Marilyn's reputed beauty regime and body maintenance and let's just say that the caller may not be far wrong.

![]() I'm like you, I like to listen live. With Iain's show especially, it just feels a wee bit more exciting to be present in the moment. Kills me getting up in the morning, but I'm going to stick at it because I've waited so long for a show like this. I haven't listened to Jon Holmes yet - just Iain, Kath and Howard. |

I attempted to hedge my bets and tried a bit of both for an hour before turning them both off!
![]() Mention of memorable callers who are returning to air on TalkRadio reminds me of one who I have not heard in years who used to phone Ian Collins during his Creatures Of The Night days. Roger from Bristol who would get into some quite deep discussions. He had one of those rather memorable voices. I suddenly stopped hearing him at some point a long time ago. ![]() I was an avid listener to Iain Collins and the Creatures of the Night in the old TalkRadio days and I don't recall Roger. Maybe if I heard him again it would ring a bell. You have a good memory - mine's starting to go.

Why does Jonathan continue to call himself Noah?
![]() Iain knows he's Jonathan, he even called him Jonathan during his latest call. |

Horseracing IS a sport, Snooker is NOT a sport, Iain Lee.
![]() My rule is if you can smoke and drink while you're doing it, then it's not a sport - so that includes golf. Anyway, no more talking about sport, it's TalkRadio, not TalkSport, I ditched that station ages ago - I hope that Iain's proximity to the TalkSport blokes isn't rubbing off on him.

Is talking on the radio about everything and nothing that comes to mind a proper job?

I liked Iain's comments last night 'one caller... Julia Hartley-Brewer would love one caller' and 'we are in no position to start banning callers' !

Last night may have been the best show he's done on talkRADIO. The show was full of calls and there was almost no filling from the newspaper until just before the interview at 12.30.
He played the prank call again after midnight when Rob Burnett called up. Iain usually has some kind of feud with someone else on the station (either real or fake) and it seems that JHB will be the target this time. |

I've decided to ditch Nick Abbot on Friday nights for Iain Lee.
I've been loyal to Nick for a long time and prior to Talk Radio's launch there was no other viable alternative for me, but I can't take any more politics when at that time of night I just want some entertainment. I gave up on Nick in 2008 and sometimes wonder if I'm missing out but when I catch the odd few minutes here and there I just can't take any more. For many years he kept saying he would never do serious. Iain never said anything like that so his switch to BBC local radio didn't feel like such a betrayal. His one-off show on Mansfield 103.2 was a kind of celebration of his "fun years" and he said that was probably the last time he would do that kind of show. Luckily for us that wasn't the case. The worst thing about Nick is that I know what he's capable of. It is such a waste. |
