"Where would you safely secrete a suicide pill on your body" asks Iain. In the ear I reckon.
I was shocked that I was right and really pleased with myself.

If Iain's reading this he will probably see this as the ultimate compliment.
I gave up on Nick in 2008 and sometimes wonder if I'm missing out but when I catch the odd few minutes here and there I just can't take any more. For many years he kept saying he would never do serious. Iain never said anything like that so his switch to BBC local radio didn't feel like such a betrayal. His one-off show on Mansfield 103.2 was a kind of celebration of his "fun years" and he said that was probably the last time he would do that kind of show. Luckily for us that wasn't the case. The worst thing about Nick is that I know what he's capable of. It is such a waste. It's a crying shame. He's my all-time favourite broadcaster.Another poster on this thread said that it's LBC policy that restricts Nick to politics. I don't understand why they can't just loosen the leash, relax the rules a bit to allow for a more laid back late night weekend vibe. Let's hope we get the old Nick back someday. |

That reminds me, in one of Iain's earlier shows he mentioned that he'd once been mugged for his chips - I wonder has anyone ever been mugged for your chips, Sleeps. ![]() Did you hear Alan from Glasgow who was on at the top of last night's show - was that you?

I miss the days of watching Mark Lawson on The Late Show on BBC2.
It seems that a raft of talented people have been dumped from the BBC.

I remember that show about the fake space trip and I could never understand how they fell for that - talk about space cadets in the truest sense of the word.
![]() Iain is so right - they should have faked blowing up the earth. ![]() Their reactions on what the hell they were going to do and where they were going to go would have been priceless. |

I guessed the correct answer before it was announced last night .
I was shocked that I was right and really pleased with myself. ![]() As for that lame Johnny Vaughan rubbish about sending total amateurs into space a few years ago, I'm sorry but I simply don't believe any of them genuinely fell for such nonsense. They never even questioned why they were not weightless! It's the first thing I'd have been wondering about in anticipation of it happening. He ought to take the massive P out of another dire Channel 4 show this very week - Sex Box! Does anything get much worse than that?

I'm guessing for being boring, considering Iain said it was the worst start to a radio show ever
![]() ![]() Iain made a quip about Noel Edmonds and pretended that you'd said it and he cut you off in a joke fashion as if he was dumping you for being inappropriate. ![]() I don't agree that the show was boring, he's being self-deprecating, Iain's too hard on himself. You must phone again, Richard, you're a good caller.

![]() ![]() I post on here to help keep me awake while I'm listening. Most people tweet nowadays but I don't use Twitter or Facebook. I thought I'd post to keep this thread going cos it would probably just disappear otherwise. I wouldn't dream of jamming up the other TalkRadio thread so I didn't think I was doing any harm. |

The Tom Baker mention, and then Iain Lee telling a story? I missed it.
Was I right? I didn't wait for his answer. I've only dipped in and out the past couple of nights. As for that lame Johnny Vaughan rubbish about sending total amateurs into space a few years ago, I'm sorry but I simply don't believe any of them genuinely fell for such nonsense. They never even questioned why they were not weightless! It's the first thing I'd have been wondering about in anticipation of it happening. He ought to take the massive P out of another dire Channel 4 show this very week - Sex Box! Does anything get much worse than that? ![]() He said this after you and I both posted that we'd love him to be a guest - a spooky coincidence. ![]() The answer about the cyanide pill is to hide it in a fake tooth in your mouth. The Space Cadets show was a jaw-dropping piece of TV - I'd forgotten all about it until Iain brought it up last night. Sex box was mentioned, Iain didn't know about it and Kath filled him in. He did take the piss out of it as you would expect him too. |

I enjoyed Nigel and Rob - Kath was great singing Nigel's jingle.
I didn't realise that Nigel had a motorbike, he must have upgraded from his bicycle. I laughed when Nigel said he could do 60 on his 50cc - imagine him bombing towards you ![]() I wonder if he has Lindsay Lohan painted on his tank.

I'm just catching up on last night's show - that first "Australian teacher" was Rob Burnett, wasn't it? I'm not going mad?

Iain Lee must be the only presenter I know of who seems to flip flop from being an absolute radio genius to a painful to listen to amateur hour knobend a considerable number of times in a single show.

To paraphrase an Alan Davies gag, I don't think I could climb far enough down the evolutionary tree to qualify as a caller on his show.
As we know though, when most claim not to like, or even run down a show, we know they're still listening

As I said, sometimes he's brilliant. So I do listen to his show but when his form inevitably dips or one of his sycophantic muppets call in I switch over to another station for 15 mins until things have picked up again.
Sorry for going of topic !
