I have turned off the option to split the stream into songs and changed the naming convention so the files are named according to date and time, for example, talkRADIO--2016-04-18--12-00-00.mp3”

Cheers, I'll give that a go. Been looking for something like this for years

I'm sure that something Iain says is bleeped out in the podcast, but not yet had chance to listen to it again and compare against the periscope. Anyone know?

I just had another listen

http://talkradio.co.uk/highlights/po...15th-160416711

at 9:40 Iain says

"told me to f-off, told me to p*** off (saying the whole word) and then called me a w". Unless there's another part where he is bleeped.

I'm a new listener to Iain Lee and its nice to have something to listen to at 10pm after talksport ruined everything. He's pretty goof

Not a fan of the music though.. If I wanted to listen to music I wouldnt seek out talk radio stations.

I heard him reference Digispy so if he does read this thread ENOUGH OF THE LITTLEST HOBO PLEASE!!! That tv show was childhood ruining

I watch Iain's Periscope on your YT channel.

Thank you for taking the time - loving your work, good sir.

Yassar very profound tonight, hindered by a bad phone line. Iain calls him back on the house phone to try and get a better line.

I couldn't make out a word of what Yassar said - I'm going to have to listen to that part of the show again.

It's great that you're a new listener and are enjoying the show.

I disagree about the Littlest Hobo music, though - I love it.

It's good, but I much prefer hearing the Fall Guy theme tune.

Oh dear, it's Nigel.

Phone lines are poor tonight. It's not just Yasser.

The Periscope app keeps crashing on me - is this just my internet or is it affecting others too?

I haven't had any problems tonight.

EDIT: Sorry, you meant the app. I don't know then.

I like the Fall Guy theme too and his doctored version of Annie's Song.

I've just realised that when Nigel is doing his Mrs Doubtfire he sounds like my mother-in-law.

I'm just listening to the radio and I'm finding that Iain is as clear as a bell but I'm having trouble hearing some of the callers.
Lloyd that was just on - I caught none of that - it was just a muffled mumble.

Sounds like being grabbed by the nads, while dressed as Madonna, had quite an effect on him.

Danny Baker was playing that literally 10 years ago. Iain Lee is really bad.

Iain yet again succinctly demonstrates why night time radio is the best. He reiterates that other talk stations aren't prepared to vary from their narrow topic base. First of all he says he won't name the stations but a few seconds later he can't help himself as he mentions LBC and BBC London.

It was another point I thought. Will try and listen again tomorrow.

Yeah, he said he was nicking it.

Danny's due to be a guest, I'm looking forward to that.

We hadn't heard Kath on Iain's show since Thursday but Emma called in and Iain wanted to speak to her off air, so Kath took calls straight-to-air for about 10 minutes.

This might be better suited to the main TalkRadio thread on here, but I'm going to bung it here as I mainly listen to Iain's show so here you go. I really hope Iain, Kath, Ed and others at the station read it and take note as I really want this to be constructive criticism. I love the show and want to support the station, but need to get this off my chest.

I am getting more and more flipping frustrated by the station and their slap-dash approach to, well, everything. It's becoming obvious that Iain and Kath (and Ed who I admit I don't know well, but seems a nice chap on twitter and from the bit I've spoken to him on the phone when I call the show) are working their socks off to make this show a success. I think they're doing a fab job whilst Iain's manner may not be everyone's cup of tea he's getting some great reviews, tackling a wide range of subjects and getting some great guests on board.

They're managing to do all this though whilst being apparently hampered by a pretty poor studio set up. Regularly the phone system doesn't work. Iain's bringing in how own headphones (nicked from 3CR's old Luton studio) which are as the ones provided aren't to his own specification, but they're held together with sticky tape. Why has someone from the station not come along and said - right, you're doing a fab show, but can't we buy you a new set of headphones to make your life easier? Surely they can't be that expensive.

He's running lots of clips etc off his own laptop - and I heard him mention he had to buy a new charger for it yesterday. He's periscoping from his own phone. He's talked about how a new iPad or even a Go Pro would make things easier for him on the periscope front. What he's doing with Periscope is quite ground breaking and surely this is a prime opportunity for the station to be jumping on this and helping Iain take it all to the next level. And getting some good media coverage too. Surely popping out with a company credit card and buying him a new iPad from the Apple Store should be a simple thing?

And even just someone from the marketing department printing out a nice piece of card with the station logo on, phone number URL etc to be stuck to his laptop lid during the show!

Don't get me wrong, this isn't Iain (or Kath or Ed) I'm having a go at here, but the slightly more anonymous 'talkRADIO". I've seen lots being done online with Virgin Radio across different social media networks and it all being a bit more corporately branded and cohesive etc, but I can't see why someone's not helping Iain out with all this here. And I'm not trying to write it here to be all anonymous hiding behind a pseudonym (Iain and Kath know who I am in real life and all that) as I'd happily say this in person to people. Iain's got a slick show going on, but everything around it just needs to be made slicker.

Or where do I send my CV for the role as talkRADIO social media manager?

Rant over.

I hope Kath gets more time in the hot seat. I feel bad about not letting her speak! Sorry, I get all excited and run off at the mouth when talking about Queen

Great post, Penny. I do agree that the station could be making things easier for the on-air talent.

I never thought there would be another radio station that gives the presenters such freedom and I give them great credit for that. This is the opportunity that fans have been waiting for since the glory days of Iain doing the afternoon show on LBC in 2006. He looked screwed after the Globalisation of LBC in September 2007 but Virgin threw him a lifeline. Iain was now national but it wasn’t quite the same as there had to be music interspersed and that was a deal breaker for some. Now he’s got the best possible time slot on a fully talk station where presenters are free to do their own thing.

So I really want talkRADIO to succeed, but I don’t want them to mess it up as it will probably be the last chance we will get of a national talk station along these lines. So they really need to get their act together when it comes to technical issues and marketing. It is still early days so hopefully the issues will be resolved in due course.

You're spot on radamfi - the freedom he's been given is fantastic and that's what almost makes it even more frustrating. It's small things that need doing. Small bit of budget, company credit card and a bit of initiative. Kind of why I wanted to say all that.

It was good that you phoned in to help Kath out. She's a competent presenter in her own right (she has had her own show in the past) but given that she wasn't expecting to have to host the show by herself yesterday evening she was probably a bit nervous. I would like to see her present when Iain goes on holiday. Maybe that's the plan.

Just listening to last night's show and got to that bit. Complete seat of your pants for her, but she did well. I'd bailed and gone to bed by that point otherwise I would have called her for a chinwag about knitting whilst Iain wasn't around!

Hope Emma's OK though. She sounded brighter, but probably best that Iain takes some of it offline if you know what I mean.
