It's all a prank. Iain is on the wind up trying to convince us all that he's been lumbered with Jake.

The last few minutes have been hilarious!

That was utterly weird. Could this be Iain's last show on the station? He's hinted that 'he doesn't even know about next week'

I chose Nick Abbot on Friday night, so I've no idea what the previous posts mean. I did attempt to get Iain's periscope up while listening to Nick but it did not appear to be active for the second night in a row.

Could be the decision to skip periscope last night was to add to authenticity of the joke.

Looking forward to hearing this today

There was no Wifi again. You could say that was made up for effect but no Wifi was mentioned on Jon Holmes' show as well.

If he did that on LBC then the whole show after 11 would be people worrying that he was leaving but so many of the callers have heard him do so many wind-ups before that didn't happen. Only Dennis made a call that suggested he may have been a bit worried but even he probably knew it was a joke.

As soon as he started ranting it seemed to me he was just having a pretend hissy fit to seem confrontational.
I have listened to a good chunk of his shows and enjoyed them. Last night's was irritating as he went a little over the top with his generated angriness.

Carry on like this and I will be back with Allan Beswick on Manchester and Nick Abbot on LBC.

Anyone else sense a Mansfield accent last night?

Anyone know what's happened to the official podcasts, haven't been any new ones since Wednesday? I know there's a few other ways to listen again but I've got used to the official ones downloaded to my phone.

Technical problems yet again - Kath mentioned it on Twitter.

The presenters are great but the place is a joke.

Yes, the joke got tiresome very quickly and |'m glad they wrapped the Jake thing up fairly soon. It was Kath shouting the very original "leave it Iain he's not worth it" that was the final straw for me. Not really sure of the point of the charade - this is a different audience and times have moved on since Bob Staunton. A slightly awkward show overall, but hey there is bound to be the occasional dud.

Agreed, as i said earlier in the thread though i'm not suprized. The Wirless Group/UTV produce some great content however there technical facilities are very poor, there local stations genrally sound ok on the air however there technology for networking ect is miles behind the likes of Global. Jon Holmes seemed pissed off by it when he joined Iain. When asked off air if he was enjoying it he said not yet, Iain asked why and he said that the show was fine however "The Wireless Groups technical shit is shit"

i quite enjoyed Iain's show last night, i enjoyed the randomness of it all. Just what late night radio should be, slighty odd.

Noel Taylor phoned in for the first time last night on talkRADIO. I'm guessing he hadn't phoned him since Absolute. Iain got Kath speak to him on her own and even got Kath to take the main desk so Iain didn't speak to him at all. He didn't know her name though so probably hasn't been listening much, if at all. Earlier in the show Iain had already caught out Alan Caddick as someone who just phones up and doesn't listen to the show.

After midnight Iain played his hit, "Ooh a Party".

which I thought was a really good tune at the time and I actually paid for it on iTunes.

So Iain felt he has been revealing to much about himself lately, especially after being duped recently by a caller. Anyone have any ideas which caller hadn't been telling the truth which led him to opening up? I always had my doubts about Emma even though I was berated for suggesting that perhaps Samaritans would be a better number to call rather than a late night radio station.

I like Iain but feel lately recent events have taken their toll on his health which comes across on the show.

I did think it was rather disappointing that the young woman who he talked to on new callers night subsequently gave him grief for saying that people sometimes experienced sexual gratification while being abused. Surely anyone could see that Iain was not trying to be horrible when he said that?

I used to listen to a personal problems phone-in on GWR a long time ago and people would prank call him with fake problems but the presenter said it didn't matter if fake problems were aired as listeners could still benefit from the discussion.

People don't realise that if they broadcast deeply personal information about themselves to the nation, that information can be used in ways that are contrary to how they want it to be used. If you express opinions about things that some people are extremely sensitive about, you are more likely to cause unintentional offence if what you say doesn't reflect the consensus.

I loved that. I was on the bus listening, luckily no one could see me laughing my head off.

I would say thankyou for that link but unfortunately I am from Leamington Spa and it lead me to another music video that I'd rather not have seen

If it was Emma he was talking about, was that her who called up using a different name (Sam?) toward the end of the show and rang off quickly?

I wondered if it was something to do with Emma after he took her off air the last time she phoned in.

Did Iain say that he was busted by the police or something?

Not exactly. They thought his house has been burgled and got him out of bed. Apparently it's a common technique for burglars to pretend they're the householder working shifts.

The definitive seat of the pants moment - in more ways than one, as it turned out - was when Iain ran away from the inventor guy like a scalded cat and left Clarissa to talk to him about being the ruler of some scatalogical cult in the desert.

Had to laugh, but really it must be scary.
