Iain is inflicting Noel on poor unsuspecting first time caller, Emma.
At least she doesn't have to give him a hand job!

Last night's show was particularly good between 11 o'clock and midnight. Iain said a few words to Noel but didn't go one on one with him when Emma finished and left it to Kath again. The test to see if Iain was a massive racist was better radio than expected.

Also Caddick taught us how to get less cancer from smoking.

£600 a show.

Nice one. I just watched the bit where Iain puts Kath into the hot seat to talk to Noel. She kept saying, "Poor Noel!"

She's brilliant - just watching now. Her dead pan questioning is very funny.

And I've learned that banana is a herb.

If I hadn't read about his history with Iain here, I would think that Noel was doing a character like Barry or the computer tech guy - but is he genuinely calling as himself...?

Yes, he's just a punter.

I like Alan, Its incredible how he's unemployed yet can afford to waste hundreds of pounds betting on the horses, smoke and go out drinking with his friends regularly. I liked his good night, night night which Iain clipped into a soundbite.

The computer guy was hilarously funny and even Kath interacting with Noel was amusing.

The periscope went offline, during a discussion in the ads about backup plans in case of no calls

I like Carrick too, I like his contribution to the show.
I wonder if he's unemployed cos he can't find a job, or maybe he's not well enough to work.
I certainly hope he's not unemployed cos no-one will give him a job cos he seems a very decent, personable man.
He can do whatever the hell he likes with his money as far as I'm concerned.

Since it's sometimes difficult to figure out what's real and what's a spoof on Iain's show and who's lying and who's telling the truth, does 600 quid sound about right?

Hi Sleeps

They have a web based email here - http://talkradio.co.uk/contact

It says "Email using the box above and choosing “Radio show” from the drop down menu" not sure if it really goes straight to the studio though.

You can text but Iain has said he doesn't like texts and he doesn't seem to read any out.

My initial enthusiasm for this show has worn off. I get that TR seems like a shambles (I dont listen to any other shows but that's how it appears from his show anyway) but his utter misery with the situation just makes it a dreadful listen.

At times it was as if he was going into Barry from Watford type character. I remember Barry Had a very funny ding dong with Stephen on LBC when Iain was hosting years ago but I do wonder........
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but the Barry character appears to have his own show available on BBC radio iplayer now, Barry's Lunch Club.

Other presenters don't complain about the problems as much as Iain Lee does. I'm not sure why his show seems to be more affected.

I think it becomes a bit repetitive if you listen too much. The same few callers are on every or almost every night. However, that is due to the low audience participation - beyond Iain's control.

Iain's support for Ken Livingstone seems out of place with a show which he reminds us, doesn't discuss what they discuss on stations like LBC. He seems to want to be able to say what he thinks, but he doesn't want to listen to what others have to say. He has requested that several people stop including him in their discussions on Twitter about it, that followed his tweets on the subject. Had he received a lot of calls from people who wanted to strongly disagree with him I think he would have ffelt uncomfortable.

There have been some good bits this week. The computer problems segment was the best. Kath's sharpness when discussing various inventions was also a great listen. I enjoyed the call that ended with Vinny saying "got to go my mum's coming".

The main technical problem appears to be when is when he tries to take calls straight-to-air and it works some of the time but not others. That would only affect Iain's show because no other show takes calls straight-to-air.

I don't have a problem with regular callers in general because different topics are usually discussed. If someone is really interesting then I don't mind them being on every night. However if/when there are too many calls then it does make sense to rest some regulars from time to time, and that is what happened on his LBC afternoon show in 2006 as they were spoiled for choice.

Sometimes repetition can be good no matter how much things are repeated. For example, Jon Holmes' show could be seen as being very repetitive but I haven't yet tired of that repetition. How many times have they said "I can't get my head around it" or "start your message with anything you like"?

On Thursday night he said he was proud of his audience because they weren't interested in talking about Ken Livingstone despite Iain talking about Ken quite a lot. Obviously people listen to him in the first place because they don't want too much current affairs.

Last night there was a particularly low number of calls and it sounded like he was getting really fed up with the lack of calls towards the end of the show. However even long time listeners like myself can never be 100% sure because his act still can be unpredictable. Indeed, when callers finally came he told them that they were going home now, implying that he didn't want any more calls.

I found Iain's monologue about the Daily Mail article on the BBC very enjoyable, and also when Kath joined that discussion.

If it starts becoming hard to separate the fact from the fiction with callers then I wonder what the point is?

I've barely listened to Iain Lee this week at all. Grabbed a few minutes a couple of times and turned off quite soon afterwards. The novelty value does seem to have worn off somewhat. I chose Nick Abbot again last night for example and at no time did I feel inclined to switch across to TalkRadio. I'll continue dipping in, but maybe not as much as I'd initially thought, but who knows, because I think you have to be in a certain kind of mood to listen to Iain Lee. I may download this weeks podcasts to catch up instead. It may be a 3 hour long show but lets face it, there's probably only about half that time of worthwhile listening. Also, the very same people should not be allowed on night after night after night. Callers need shaking up far more, if he has enough to be that choosy about.

He's still making us guess after 10+ years. And you think that's a bad thing?

About an hour ago Iain did a live video on Facebook where he says he has taken some comments on DS to heart. He'll be doing another live video later where you can ask him any questions.
