I dont get this. Regular callers are more interesting and funny than new callers. They're only on for a few minutes a few times a week hardly enough to get bored

The same callers being on night after night makes the show too samey. I think Iain agrees, because he has limited Nigel to one song per week.

I think if there were as many calls as in the LBC days, the rregulars wouldn't be as regular.

Presumably not before the end of Pointless.

My default position is that every caller is in some way a stooge. Clearly not, but at least you don't get caught out.

Did he have David Icke on the show last Monday? I've not noticed any mention on here or elsewhere. I know a while back he said he was coming on in a couple of weeks and I'm sure I heard him mention 25th April?

Surely listening to iain lee for 3 hours a night is too samey then. If he didnt think a particular caller was interesting then they wouldnt contribute as much.

Hes cancelled a few times

I dont have any issue with the show. I hope they keep away from serious news and politics and talk about lighter stories, popular culture, and more kath and interviews

That's a matter of opinion. But these regulars had to be new callers once. He needs to add some new TalkRadio based regulars, rather than some of the clique that have clearly been following around the dial for some time previously. I get the impression quite strongly that Iain Lee is a strongly self critical person, which many sometime depressive and sensitive people indeed are. It's often what makes people like this extremely good at what they do, even if they rarely see it themselves. I speak from experience, as a someone who's often been hard on myself and questioning of everything I do. If I am to raise a criticism here, like elsewhere, I try to make it a constructive one and not a destructive one. When he talks about his personal self I quite often relate quite strongly with him, as someone of a very similar age.

Generally speaking over the past 6 weeks it's been a very positive late night radio development, and the chance to sit in on the studio with the periscope from time to time has been an enjoyable interactive bonus to drop in on. I like Iain Lee, and I like his show and I know that's what he wants to hear and am happy to say it here.

Regards Icke, I wonder if Iain's in competition with Howard Hughes Unexplained Show to have Icke on. Howard has interviewed Icke a number of times on his podcast and to me the Unexplained seems the more relevant show for David Icke to appear on. He could do both of course!

I think Icke would be much more likely to agree to Howard if the two shows are in competition. He's talked to him before so he knows what to expect and let's be honest, Howard doesn't exactly hold his guests feet to the sceptical fire.

He seemed keen to field questions about Pointless but I'll be honest I couldn't say I had any

Iain is very talented and a fantastic listen..
Never had there been such a good talk show since Nick Abbot was on Virgin 1215..

I enjoyed hearing Iain's responses to posts here, and I now understand why the technical issues are more of a problem on his show.

He directly addressed this point on his live Facebook video. He has taken this on board and will make Mondays in May "newish callers only" show, so barring callers that have been on regularly in the last six weeks.

I quite like the cadre of regular callers. Allan, Gatford, Matt, Barry, the dirty bum guy.... when you get to know them after a few calls the show feels like a kind of family. Having said that, the new callers show a couple of weeks ago was great and maybe a show like that every so often would be a good idea.

That is what Clive Bull's or Nick Abbot's show was like until 2007. There was a real sense fuzzy familiarity when certain regular callers came on. Iain's show now has a bit more of the Clive Bull 2005-2007 cosiness about it compared to LBC or Absolute, which were more frenetic.

Hearing this makes me regret that I didn't have access to LBC during that time - well I might have done through their website but I wasn't aware of it's existence until I got my first DAB around 2010

All this talk of Nick and Clive etc at their glory days... This wee wees all over them. Its all that PLUS the wonder of the internet.
People whining 'Oh I can't tune in' there are more ways now than ever... the original talkRADIO was MW ONLY... no DAB, no internet, no apps, there should be more than ever tuning in now. I put it down to lack of advertisements.... other than us forum geeks who knows about it?????
New stations were a big thing back in 1995, nobody cares nowadays...

Yasser was on Anna Williamson last night (2238 if you want to hear on Listen Again), introduced as a friend of |ain Lee's show. He was talking about loneliness.

That's got me thinking. Vinny could put in a hilarious call to that show.

Tonight's show will be streamed on Facebook tonight, instead of Periscope.

We like this kind of alternative speech radio that's why we are here, but where ever I have worked I'm usually the only person that listens to talk/LBC most of my colleagues and friends watch online TV as an alternative to terrestrial not the radio. So just because a few of us on an Internet forum are lucky enough to find this kind of radio that's a little bit different doesn't mean others will even bother to go looking.

I'm with you guys.
Of course I would like to hear new callers/newish callers/fresh blood, I still like the regular callers regardless.
I have no issue with how often they're on.
They're a diverse little community, they all have their place and all are welcome as far as I'm concerned.
I even find if one of them drops off the radar I wonder what's happened to them - why has Jonathan/Noah not phoned recently for instance.
There are plenty more old school regular callers out there in the ether and I don't mind if they too find their way back to Iain - the more the merrier.

At least I don't have an adverse reaction to any of Ian's current crop of regulars in particular whereas Cuban Tony who phones Nick Abbot makes me want to jump off a bridge.

Even when speech radio was at its peak, and even in the days Iain Lee was flooded with callers, most people here were listening to rubbish!

My interest in radio means I tune around to see what I can find. Circa 1998 I discovered Scotttie McClue and James Whale. When LBC replaced DNN I discovered Iain Lee, Clive Bull and other presenters. While I made all these discoveries, most peoplewere listening to rubbish.

Tonight, while the majority of radio listeners are listening to rubbish, I'll be interested in what's happening on LBC and TalkRadio.

Like Green Day, I want to be the minority.

Iain Lee is going to talk about lazy journalism and has had more problems on Twitter, including from the nasty man who disrupted one of his gigs and who I hope is banned from the show.

The Facebook streaming may cut down the trolling because Facebook requires real names.

I think even Nick wants to jump off a bridge when he calls, the other week he said on air to his producer "Is that who i think it is ? ..... Christ, lets get it over with then"
