My interest in radio means I tune around to see what I can find. Circa 1998 I discovered Scotttie McClue and James Whale. When LBC replaced DNN I discovered Iain Lee, Clive Bull and other presenters. While I made all these discoveries, most peoplewere listening to rubbish.

Tonight, while the majority of radio listeners are listening to rubbish, I'll be interested in what's happening on LBC and TalkRadio.

Like Green Day, I want to be the minority.

Iain Lee is going to talk about lazy journalism and has had more problems on Twitter, including from the nasty man who disrupted one of his gigs and who I hope is banned from the show.

The Facebook streaming may cut down the trolling because Facebook requires real names.”

We've had a similar radio odyssey, wns and thankfully Iain is giving us the chance to keep going down that road less travelled.

Nice to meet you.

Oh and Dinky Doo.

I have to say, I admire Nick for always taking his calls.
I just couldn't.

Tonight an underdog team of blues lifted a premiership title.

Iain's on fine form tonight - I'm loving the singing.

A big argument with Tom last night lasting about half an hour as the racism row drags on.

He took (and made) a call on the Skype line that Iain uses for the answerphone. It sounded fine and might be worth using for straight-to-air in general for two reasons. Firstly, the call is a regular geographical number so is cheap or free for most people. Secondly, it actually works.

Iain dealt with Tom very well. Tom was talking down to Iain as people like him always do, and suggesting Iain's attitude was simply due to him not being as educated/informed as he considers himself to be. Tom was basically trying to suppress Iain Lee but not getting very far. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Yassah came on and disagreed with himm. Tom probably assumes the majority of people of other races share his views.

All the callers after midnight who commented disagreed with Tom.

The games this week have been entertaining.

I don't know why so much time was spent arguing with Thomas who sounded like a spoilt, middle class A level student who needed a slap.

I think Iain needs to realise that unless he wants a break down, he needs to ignore the trolls, the social justice warriors and the negative, deliberately aggressive callers. The rise of social media has created a dark and negative sub culture who just want to bait and antognaize others.

He's far to nice and trusting. We've already had the Emma situation and I wouldn't want another incident which caused him to leave Absolute happen again.

But Iain loves an argument and he's had many long arguments over the years. During the call he said it would be on the podcast so he was aware it would be good radio.

But then after the show on Twiiter he complains about feeling depressed after having to deal with all the drama from the keyboard warriors it creates. It's still going on now, some dont realise it's just a radio show and take things far to serious e.g racism, anti Semitism etc all issues which didn't relate to the radio show.

I agree with your assessment of Thomas, but I think Iain didn't do himself any favours by interrupting him so much and spending so much time on the 'rudeness' issue. In the end, I fear that Iain unwittingly ended up sounding like the very thing he was complaining about in Thomas. Sometimes it's better to let someone sink themselves, which I think Thomas would have done much earlier on.

I don't know how many people Iain wasfollowing, but I wonder how long it takes to unfollow thousands of people on Twitter? That must have been quite time consuming. He could do a competition on his show where the winner can be the first person he follows on Twitter.

He only followed a few people, maybe double digits?

I enjoyed last nights show, but I was trying to get a few friends in a whatsapp group to listen for the first time and I don't think it was the best night for new listeners to be honest as they really didn't have a clue what was going on. Going to try and spread the word on a Monday night instead!

But anyone on Twitter can Tweet you, unless you block them or you protect your Tweets.

It was a very frustrating listen, I was getting quite annoyed by the end of the call.

I agreed with Iain's line of conversation completely. There is a certain kind of person who begs to be patronised. Iain had to prevent Tom from dropping in knowingly spurious criticisms and moving on quickly before they could be addressed properly. You can't let someone get away with that, as much as they may then feign affront that they aren't being allowed to make their point. It's an embarrassingly transparent tactic to poison the well when debating.

As for his arrogant assertions that he was more intelligent than Iain and better at arguing, fresh as he was from university, disagreeing with the Oxford English Dictionary's definition of the word racism... Tom will listen back to that call in 10 years time and squirm inwardly. Yes, Iain was totally justified; and truth be told - when we finally got to it - the boy's argument was utter nonsense, an opinion born of spending all your life in the grotesque and poisonous parody of society that is Twitter. You can't be racist if you are in the minority..? Are you serious? It hardly deserves the dignity of debate.

He said the other day that Absolute simply didn't renew his contract. Are you sure he wouldn't have left if that incident didn't happen?

Yes, pretty sure that had nothing to do with him leaving.

Yasser wasn't on the show last night but Iain gave him an on air telling off. I just looked at Kath's Tweets and he was giving her grief yesterday evening. It sounded like he used to give Eloise hassle as well, which probably explains why he wasn't on Absolute very much.

He left suddenly whilst the court case was ongoing. Could have been a coincidence but I doubt the station bosses would be happy as to what happen. Especially as the defence said he was goading and provoking callers.

It was nothing to do with it.
