BTW - where is that contact form? I could see one for talkRADIO as a company, but not for the on-air presenter”

I've always assumed that the default "radio show" option goes to the current show? I may be wrong, though!

Ah - I see what you mean now. I didn't read it that way, but I can see how it could be.

I could be about to make myself very unpopular on this thread ... ... but for me, I found it, then and now, a largely pointless and unfunny exercise.

I gave it a proper go for about 30-40 mins, but I largely heard it as callers spending more time wondering when to speak than actually saying anything, and being more or less entirely unfunny when they did, saying nothing whatsoever of note. The poor sound quality of 'caller to caller' doesn't help, either.

I listen for Iain, and his clever interaction with those around him. To me, that last hour sounded like a bunch of unsophisticated teenage boys (and it is nearly all male callers). Each to their own, but speaking for myself, I hope it's not repeated very often.”

You won't make yourself unpopular on this thread, makeba, you musn't think that, you just gave an honest critique and said what you really felt. Nothing wrong with that.
I'd like to think this thread is somewhere where people feel free to express themselves truthfully and in more detail than they can on Twitter.
This thread is mainly positive because most of us, like yourself, are enjoying the shows in general but that doesn't mean that the thread is a love-in.
I didn't mind the psychedelic hour myself. I was sleepy so I let the whole thing wash over me. I liked some of the music so for me it was a bit of a trip.

Iain said last night that the hour with no presenter on Friday was a one-off so I wouldn't worry too much about that happening again. The show is so unpredictable and that's what's so good about it. If people thought that the show was becoming more like the LBC Sunday night Triple M then last night started out in complete contrast with the first hour being dedicated to the controversial things that Noel Edmonds has been saying. If you thought that would set the tone for the whole show, again you would have been wrong. In the second hour there was great satire and bizarre calls, especially from the "friend" of Noel Edmonds.

I managed to get cut off abruptly for the first time during straight-to-air too for pretending to be Noel Edmonds. In fairness I definitely crossed a line

Saw Iain post on Twitter that he was sorry for last night's show and wasn't up to it... don't understand that at all, the show was different but still great! He hasn't had a show I haven't enjoyed all the way through in ages!

That's just it, Iain on an "off-day" is better than most presenters at the top of their game.

Exactly! I do worry about him when he talks about his depression though

I think one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself is allow yourself to be yourself. If I can use that word 3 times in the same sentence. So if that's who he is then he should be that. I remember I wanted to do psychology to help people, etc. Went to uni, started it, found I couldn't be the person who actually works with troubled people up close and personal, so I switched to languages and then teaching. I still help people, but in the way that best fits me. So "poster boy" or not, talking about mental health or not, there is no "should". We just do what we're best at doing. The hard part is finding out what that is and then believing it's worthwhile. It is. That's what you're here to do!

Isn't it great that kids nowadays get someone like Iain Lee coming to their school.

When I was a kid all we got was cops coming to warn us not to do drugs and vandalise stuff.

Thank you, I was a bit nervous but it was like talking to a mate on the phone. He makes you feel at ease.

Rob Burnett phones up from outside the building, and Iain invites him into the studio. Rob has birthday presents for Iain.

Tonight's show is brilliant. I get the feeling Rob Burnett may have pre-arranged that though ha, would be a bit stupid to let a listener outside the studio in unannounced - has nobody seen that film?

Iain genuinely invited people into the studio at Absolute a couple of times. Anyone who turned up got in. The first time I thought it was a wind-up. If I knew it was real I would have turned up and I couldn't make it the second time.

That seems err... risky. I mean I meet people from the Internet all the time, but there seems to be quite a few unhealthy people obsessed with Iain/his shows?

Kind of wish I listened to the Absolute shows now though ha, I'm only 20 mins from Soho!

Nigel from Maidstone " I sat on Jimmy Saville's knee once "

I know Iain doesn't like birthdays - I like everyone else's but not my own - I'd like to wish him a happy birthday anyway.

Nice to see Rob in the studio! He seemed to be chucked out quite early on though. Iain didnlt look in the mood and they hadn't even opened the fanta or pringles!

Rob turned up at Absolute a couple of times unannounced and as said he also did a Christmas show where random people turned up including Andre. He also had a 5 a side game at Absolute against Christian O Connell, would love to see Iain do that again against Goldstein on TalkSPORT

Anyone who watched last night's Periscope could see how badly Iain was feeling. So I was half expecting him to be off tonight.

LBC reported themselves to Ofcom, but the matter was considered resolved given that it was due to a technical error and the prompt reporting.

Last night, there were enough callers to make it viable and Iain played music underneath. The dump button was pressed a few times but because of the double dump system there was no need to halt proceedings to wait for the delay to build up again like in the old days.”

I got a treat for you: Here's a very rare recording of that entire show - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-U...ew?usp=sharing
