Iain's show was magnificent last night!
So funny that he mentioned DS and so clearly remembered who slagged him off daily on the LBC thread. When the losers were lovebombed, I thought it was down to Danny Baker. But someone said it was started by someone with the Twitter name Radio Fail........who I heard Iain swearing at before the show went on air. Not sure how true that is. Anyway, it was great! |

I think Iain quite often has the totally wrong impression of people on Digital Spy, if he reads the pages he shouldn't have as most people only have praise for him and his performances on the radio.

![]() I'm not sure why the likes of Iain are that bothered by these forums. It's a few posters compared to the thousands that listen but wouldn't dream of posting on an internet forum. I like Iain and he makes me laugh but he's not adverse to an acerbic or cutting comment or two himself. During his time on Big Brother he took no prisoners. |

Just out of interest how far did Iain get on it?. Iain was less than complimentary about many of the housemates. I always found him amusing but he drew his fair share of gasps from the audience ![]() As a housemate he would be phenomenal

How can I be banned from something I'm not even a member of in the first place Billy?
![]() Twitter's for twits and the overly self obsessed. Anyway, really don't get people saying remainers aren't allowed to rant at a dangerous and silly (in their and my opinion) decision, yes it was a democratic vote and if you pride democracy so much you will like people talking about what they believe in. In fact it sounds incredibly undemocratic to keep on saying these people should shut up. Insults towards liberal lefties, surely just as bad as racist righties, but no it's different when you generalise that way is it? All the architects leaving us in the shit, with no plan whatsoever over some illusory advantages is enough to make anyone rant at those idjits and their slavish devotees. Oh we've plenty of time for actual plans whilst my ****ing savings are being eroded on a ****ed currency and jobs are in doubt. Brexiters seem to be quite willing to call all remainers cry-baby moaners whilst moaning at them. Rich irony. |

He wasn't an actual housemate but he was part of the panel show, Big Brothers Bit On The Side ( or whatever it was called then ) which comments on the days events inside the house.

I think his BB show was called Bit on the Psych.
He also stood in sometimes on Big Brother's Little Brother, and did a late night internet radio show after eviction shows. |

He had the balls to confront Connor on his terrible behaviour which must have took some courage. I always thought he was to good for the show. I hope he never hits such lows which means he has to resort to appearing on BB or in the Jungle which is really bottom of the barrel z lister tv. |

"Drunk Emily" last night may have been the first caller ever to have been dumped three times in one call, certainly by Iain. There was over a minute between the first two dumps and about 3 minutes between the last two so there was probably no risk.
There was a guy who bought a fake iPhone in a car park and bought counterfeit money. Could that have been a made up story? |

How does dumping work, then? Because I was very confused by this - I thought 'dumping' stopped the last seven seconds from being broadcast, and that the time was then recovered during a song/break? But it seemed to be one continuous call with three separate dumps in it... Sorry, I know this is probably Radio 101 or something.

I was more wondering how the time builds back up, but then I got off my bum and did some Googling: https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlike...in_radio_work/ Quote:
The broadcast is on delay by about seven seconds. There's a computer that keeps that delay buffer. If a guest curses then they can dump the past seven seconds (so that they are essentially broadcasting live) without having a gap in airtime. Clever stuff - presumably the sort of thing you'd notice if you were really listening closely, but I've never twigged a difference at all...
Then, the computer will automatically insert tiny pauses inbetween sentences as the host continues to talk, thereby building up the 7 second gap again. tl;dr - instead of having one long seven second gap in airtime, a computer inserts 14 x 500ms gaps in between sentences until it's built back up the 7s buffer. |

How old is this technology? I know it was being used 20 years ago. You could hear stations going into delay during the 22:00 IRN news before their phone-ins and hear the delay get llonger between those stations and stations not going into delay. The Pulse and Hallam FM's delays were different lengths. I can't remember which was the longest.
On TalkSport, the transmitters would go into delay at slightly different times or speeds. On networked phone-ins, the delay didn't always work. Magic 828, when carrying Scottie McClue's phone-in from Hallam FM sometimes didn't go into delay. |
