Hope that Russell's radio show went well today. What a call that was last night.

Best ofs? Why isn't there a stand-in presenter?

Best ofs are cheaper. He's got a couple more days off on 30 August and 9 September so he may actually have a proper stand in then.

They're going to do a whole week of best ofs?! That sounds like a disaster!

I'm going to guess that Jake Yapp was going to be Iain's stand in on paper however he is up in Edinburgh so can't do this week. I reckon in the future it will be Jake.

He mentioned that a big name in speech based radio was going to be his stand-in which would rule out Yapp, so that might have been referring to his days off on 30 August and 9 September, unless that "big name" is himself! He also kept mentioning Whale, which led some people to take that as a hint that it would be him, but he might still be in the Big Brother house next week. But it might be him on 30 August and 9 September.
Iain's show is probably easier to replace with a best of compared to shows earlier in the day because there is no locally produced news or travel (only Sky News) and there aren't usually any topical references. Moyles often has best ofs instead of himself and that is on a radio station that has received huge investment. |

Answer = nobody. |

If they really are selections of genuine Best Ofs [although I know it's opinion what is good and what is bad] and it's not just selections they have simply randomly chosen I really don't mind them doing this one bit.

I can't remember the figures but Iain mentioned last night that a large number of people are downloading his podcasts and he sounded delighted about it. This is the usual way I listen to the show and it sounds like many others are the same, the benefits being you don't have to stay up while 1.00 every morning and if you do it like I do and listen to the unofficial podcasts all the crap is edited out. [adverts etc]
I suppose when Iain was talking about being delighted with the podcasts being downloaded he was referring the talkRADIO'S official podcasts and the bootleg ones are not counted. While I'm on about podcasts can I just thank again the person who puts this website below together [I have forgotten your name] it is very very much appreciated every time I download one thank you. >>http://iainleepodcasts.co.uk/<< |

I record the stream and listen the next day (and skip ads/news etc) but wondered if I could use these podcasts as a backup if my recording software failed. |

Are the podcasts the whole show or just a "best bits"? Do you get them from the TR website (iTumes doesnt infect my PCs!).
