The Lindsay Lowborn remix was pure gold! Great work whoever did it.
Iain's going to his studio to record something with Nigel!

Has anyone else found this week's shows very dull indeed?

Nope. Can't get enough of them. I'll miss him next week.

Incidentally, Iain did say the Shaggs interview was this week but they've not been on, have they?

No Shaggs.

Tonight's is one to watch on Periscope as they are doing the show from Sarah/Sophie's house near Edinburgh and the three of them are sitting closely together in front of the iPhone.

Best ofs for a whole week is insane. For such a prime time slot TR could have very easily got a guest presenter in.
I won't be listening to repeats.

Crazy that they're playing best ofs while Iain's off. Are they so cheap they wouldn't get someone else in?

What a strange decision. Expect no listeners for that week.

Apologies if it's already common knowledge but, in today's Observer feature on late-night radio, Iain mentions that he could have had breakfast or drive on TalkRadio, but asked for late nights instead:

I shared this in a new thread. Youre the second person Ive seen to describe as a "The Observer" link, yet the link clearly says it's from The Guardian! Why's that, was it in both?

It was in today's Observer newspaper - but they don't have their own website, so all their online content is published on that of their sister paper, the Guardian.

Well there you go. Every day's a school day. All good publicity!

He mentioned that on his show when he started, his bosses thought he was mad and said don't you want breakfast and he explained that he enjoys late nights more and has a lot more freedom to do what he wants.

It's not too late to save the week.
"The Best of Iain Lee Hosted by Kath"
Since she is not on holiday she should present the show. She is very popular so I reckon she would get loads of calls. If not she could chat to Ed and also she could have some "best of" Iain clips at the ready which she introduces whenever she feels appropriate, but let her take centre stage for 5 nights and see how it works out.

Other suggestions would have been to bring in Watko for the week. He is very good at phone-ins although perhaps he might not have been available.

The other glaring opportunity which perhaps the management have missed.... doesn't The Award Winning Nick Margerrison already work at the station?

Yeah, he could tell some tales about his time working with Jon Gaunt...

I feel like them playing out Best Ofs says a lot about Iain's stature at the station - clearly he brings in so many listeners that the only person they feel can adequately fill that slot for a week is Iain himself...

Agreed this is why i think they've made the decision they have. Radio X also did the same wth Moyles first holiday and have continued to do best of's when he's off for a long time.

Kath said on Periscope tonight that she offered to present the show herself, but the bosses said they wanted to try out the best-ofs.

What is there to "try out"?

It sounds like she's got to sit there until 1 o'clock all week to get paid.

Other scoops from the Periscope:

She's met Eloise.
Neither Kath nor Ed has put together the Best Ofs as they were surprised when the stuff from the fallout from Iain's Pointless appearance was on.
Kath will be wearing a new frock at Film Ring on Sunday.

It sounds like Kath will do another Periscope tomorrow.

To see if people will still listen to recordings to save them spending money on a stand-in, I suppose.
Bob Mills is off next Sunday and he said he is being replaced by a recording, so it looks like late night shows won't be getting a stand-in.

I only listened to the first 10 minutes of last nights show.
Amazing to think it is 'the best of' and CADDICK still gets on first!

I don`t think this is doing them any favours at all as a new station trying to gain listeners. The weekend repeats were bad enough already.

It also seems a bit strange that some presenters get a stand-in whilst others don't.
