Don't worry, tonight was always meant to be a Best Of - he's taking his kids to see the Barenaked Ladies in concert.

Naked Ladies? Outrageous, I'm reporting him to Social Services.

Hope you're felling OK & all went well Iain!

Looks like the Barenaked Ladies gig took his mind off all of the crap with his Mum's care situation and his car situation.

Film Ring on Monday, discussing Who Took Johnny. I am going to watch, against my better judgement.

The "Talent Ring" on 30 October sold out within a day. Iain has been inundated with listeners who want to perform, one of the incentives being that you don't need to buy a ticket. Notable performers include Hannah and Caddick who are going to do something together, and Katia will be there too. She engraves guns for a living but will that be related to her act? We'll have to wait and see.

Finally caught up so ready to listen live tonight and it’s going to be film ring – and I haven’t seen it yet. Argh!

Anyway, just posting to say I’m a huge fan and that the man is an absolute treasure, the world is a better place when Iain Lee has a regular radio gig

I like how Iain opened with 'its Live me not pre-recorded!' no doubt Talk Radio will use that show as best-of one day unedited

Nigel was determined to keep saying goodnight and not put the phone down. He was like a lovestruck teenager who couldn't end the call.

Before Iains publicist and agent Radamfi mentions it - Iain has released Nigel's Lindsey Lohorns song on ITunes. It's really catchy but does anyone else think he's exploiting Nigel by giving Nigel only a featuring credit?

Nigel wrote the song, performed it and his creepy obsession with the young American actress was its inspiration. I hope Nigel will properly be financially rewarded if it's a success. He really needs someone to manage him.

As a radio geek I like it when Iain talks about how the show is going. Since the RAJARs he's been talking more about that and that is bait for those who find some aspect of the show unappealing. That generates calls like the one last night suggesting that Iain might want to cut down on the Beach Boys chat.

I like listening to calls like that. Not really a full on complaint though and he used to get great complaining calls on LBC. He tried to make his point as gently as possible, trying to make it sound as less like a complaint as possible. Ultimately though, complaints of that nature won't change what Iain does. Shortly afterwards he went on a mega Beach Boys geek off with Triss and Holly!

Racist Jonathan probably made his most controversial call to date yesterday evening. However, the most notable part of the call was mentioning that he has a friend, contradicting his earlier claim of being a misanthrope.

I'm the opposite. The bits of the show I like the least are the interviews, and not necessarily just the Beach Boys related stuff. If I know the show's gonna kick off with an interview, I usually don't tune in until about half past. Which kind of makes sense in that my favourite part of the show is its unpredictability. I.e. Iain having a sing off with some guy who thinks Miley Cyrus is listening and is getting told to keep it down from his mum, or Rob Burnett ringing in with a snooker based fantasy game, haha!

Having said that though, the interviews are a relatively small portion of the show, and people like them, so I'd say the balance is pretty much spot on.

I find myself turning off when he calls in as well, like last night. The guy's got problems and his 'I hate everybody' shtick gets old.

So for the past few weeks I've been off work on holiday and have been going through some old mini-disc recordings of TalkSport from 2000-2003. Interestingly, they are from dab radio so the quality is as good as you are going to get. Got some great audio including James Whale, Tommy Boyd, Ian Collins as well as all of their jingles! They're on my computer now but I will put them on YouTube soon if anyone is interested.

I just wanted to mention that listening back to some of the recordings something really stood out. It involves Nigel from Maidstone and his love for a younger woman...um...a much younger woman! Currently I notice he has a fascination with Miley Cyrus, however, during the early 2000s and his chats with James Whale it was Charlotte Church he seemed to have a thing for. My question is this...is Nigel from Maidstone a pervert?! Discuss!

Just to clarify, I was talking about liking calls where the caller is complaining. On talkRADIO complaining callers are essentially fans of the show but complain about a small component of it, or are taking Iain to task about something he has said. Whereas on LBC there were several callers who would complain about the whole show and want him off the station. Some of them became converts after a while.

Good question!

Let's start with the definition of 'pervert':

noun
a person whose sexual behaviour is regarded as abnormal and unacceptable.

You know what, now I think about it I don't think I've ever heard him speak about Miley Cyrus or Lindsey Lohan in a sexual way, or in a way that reveals a sexual attraction to either of them. Has anyone else? If not, it might be pretty hard to describe his behaviour towards them as 'sexual behaviour', and therefore to call him as a pervert.

Agreed.
I think I'd describe him as obsessive.

I've had it with Periscope.

I typed in a fairly innocent slang 'swearword' and saw the 'moderate this' bar come up and my posting rights were closed for the rest of the show, even after I rebooted.

Who exactly is doing this moderation? If it's someone watching, then what the hell do these small minded imbeciles think when Iain swears big-time (which is more than fine with me)? Why is such a thing even available!!! And how is it that others use the F and C word freely and get to stay?

Anyway I can't be arsed to go back, so another viewer lost.

If you're going to blame anyone, blame Periscope for launching the moderation system, or maybe refrain from using "fairly innocent slang 'swearwords'" that other people watching might find offensive?
