Who exactly is doing this moderation? If it's someone watching, then what the hell do these small minded imbeciles think when Iain swears big-time (which is more than fine with me)? Why is such a thing even available!!! And how is it that others use the F and C word freely and get to stay?
The few times I've used Periscope, what occasionally happens is someone else's post will pop up and asks you to adjudicate on the message. I presume this happens to several other people as having said whether its allowable or not a few seconds later it'll reply that the message was considered ok or not.

How FnC's pass I don't know, maybe you got someone who was particularly sensitive

Interesting to note that Jonathan also doesn't listen to the show, he was unaware that the Guy from Soot was on when he called last night

I think the feature Iain was asking about where you are open to Skype calls from anyone was the "SkypeMe" feature. This was dropped from the Skype system a long time ago. You could set it as your status and then people could search for you and find you if you were in SkypeMe mode. For a while, people would use older versions of Skype and avoid the auto updates in order to still be able to use this, but eventually it all got eradicated. Much later, Skype was bought by Microsoft and they have changed things still further. Of course if you allow calls from anywhere in your privacy settings then people can call you if they know your ID anyway.

There used to be another feature in Skype called Skypecasts which effectively allowed you to host a talk show with a virtual switchboard where you could bring in callers, that unfortunately is also long-since abandoned, which is a pity because at times it was quite interesting.

If you're going to blame anyone, blame Periscope for launching the moderation system, or maybe refrain from using "fairly innocent slang 'swearwords'" that other people watching might find offensive?

https://medium.com/periscope/introdu...956#.3p4qkbr4l
If those delicate people are so offended by certain words, why do they watch and listen to Iain, who regularly (and quite rightly) uses the F and C words on Periscope???

Quite frankly, I couldn't give a 4X about morons who get offended by a word.

So for the past few weeks I've been off work on holiday and have been going through some old mini-disc recordings of TalkSport from 2000-2003. Interestingly, they are from dab radio so the quality is as good as you are going to get. Got some great audio including James Whale, Tommy Boyd, Ian Collins as well as all of their jingles! They're on my computer now but I will put them on YouTube soon if anyone is interested.

I just wanted to mention that listening back to some of the recordings something really stood out. It involves Nigel from Maidstone and his love for a younger woman...um...a much younger woman! Currently I notice he has a fascination with Miley Cyrus, however, during the early 2000s and his chats with James Whale it was Charlotte Church he seemed to have a thing for. My question is this...is Nigel from Maidstone a pervert?! Discuss!
I would like to hear this, whats your YouTube channel?

Didn't they disappear before, then came back again? Fortunately I managed to get them all a few years back when they were free to download.

I happened to mention my 5 year old webpage with Absolute shows on the talkRADIO Listeners Facebook page and it got reTweeted, hence the mentions. But I wasn't expecting a name check from Caddick!

Nigel has said on FB that he's being interviewed by BBC Tonbridge Wells about HIS top 40 smash record.

Hopefully the publicity will push the catchy ditty further up the pop parade. Soon he's going to be demanding his cut of profits from Iain.

Yeah I've seen everyone in the TalkRADIO Facebook group having a hissy fit over it. Like someone said, any half-decent journalist will know whose song it is and whose song it isn't.

Iain and the guy who remixed it probably won't even care yet all the morons in that FB group are losing their minds over it.

We know that but Nigel believes it's already sold over two million copies....

Nigel will argue that it's his song. I remember back when Simon the producer recorded 'Nigels time' on the Mike Grahame show. He was constantly hounding Mike and Simon for updates and even made homemade posters to put on the noticeboard of the local university.

Oops. Iain just mentioned that "someone" misquoted him on DS. That'll be me then.

Twenty quid between them, he actually said.

Meanwhile, Nigel's naiivety when it comes to who he is Skyping is genuinely worrying.

Nigel put the phone down on Iain last night. It was just after they started talking about the unlikelihood of Kylie actually Skyping him. Then some subsequent callers suggested that Iain was mean to Nigel.

I thought it was a bit harsh to humiliate him on national radio like that. Yes he might believe things that aren't true but he wasn't hurting anyone.

Unfortunately the person he's most likely to hurt is himself and that's what Iain is really afraid of.

Currently there's a scam going round of some gorgeous girl befriending you sufficiently that they get you to engage in mutual masturbation on Skype unfortunately they video you and then send you the film and threaten to post the film to all your Facebook Friends if you don't start paying

It's a scam that's working incredibly well even caught a US Congressman a few weeks ago who made the mistake of paying the demand but went to the FBI when they demanded more

Right but we don't know if this was that scam. Or even a scam.

Nigel did a pretty poor job of explaining what the Kylie Minogue thing was all about. All he said was that he thought Kylie Minogue tried to call him on Skype. It could've simply been an advert on Skype with Kylie Minogue's name in it for all we know. If it was a scam, surely they would've been writing to him first.

So rather than leave him be and risk him being humiliated by a scammer (assuming this was a scammer and also assuming Nigel would've fell for it; leading to a pretty low percentage imo), by confronting him like that you're now making 100% sure that he's gonna feel humiliated, and in front of however many thousand listeners. I think it was harsh.
