There is still the Listen Again. You can download the half hour files as mp3s. Does anyone here not know that yet?

Yes that's what I will be doing until Mat's website is back but they contain all the associated junk, commercials etc while Mat's do not.
Will also miss the YouTube periscope shows.

You can replay the old Periscopes at the Periscope site, but you don't get the overlay of the show audio from the radio so the sound quality is worse.

In case people don't know what we are talking about, Matthew Stephenson, who does the unofficial full show podcasts, has announced he will delay release of his recordings until it is clear that Iain's position at the station is secure, to encourage people to listen live and download the unofficial podcasts.

That's a shame - I use his podcasts to catch up, I can understand his reasoning though.

If appreciate it if you'd support the show by downloading the official podcasts. It's on iTunes and all your usual providers. Thanks.

It's not the easiest to find, you'd think going to Iain Lee's show page would have them but they just have the highlights.

If anyone is looking for a non-i Tunes podcast provider I use BeyondPod and the official podcasts have been in the directory there even before the station's launch and seems to be quite stable.

I didn't realise you could download them. I've used them to listen direct from the website, but if I could download and take them with me on my MP3 player, that would be ideal.

Click on a segment and then when it plays right click on the black viewing screen, then choose "Save Video As" you can then choose your chosen hard drive destination and even re-name it if you want. [it doesn't save it as video it saves it as an MP3 file]

Yet if you record the stream you get about 60kps, but the listen again stream is still pretty awful quality

I've actually been catching up with last week's podcasts (the official ones - I only used the unofficials if I'd heard a big chunk of the show live, because otherwise it's a losing battle against time), and I have to say, the whole segment with Iain arranging to punch a listener was wonderful. And a great example of Iain and Kath bouncing off each other too - I laughed quite loudly when she told him "I hope you can sleep tonight" and he replied that he'd be too excited to sleep.

The pods are edited highlights from the show now, rather than just the first hour or the last hour, and it's made them a proper treat to listen to.

Recording yourself has always been the best way, but at least the Listen Again is there in case something goes wrong with the recording.

I can live with the 32 kbps as it is speech but my main beef with the Listen Again is the low volume level. Sometimes it is hard to hear even at full volume when out and about in a noisy area. However, you can easily boost the sound level using software.

No problem for me on the train to work wearing headphones.

I don't understand why the unofficial podcast had to end hope Mr Lee shows compassion to his fans and allow it to return

Patience my son patience.

They'll be back but first we gotta make sure we keep the late night rebel in his job when dear old Rupert arrives.

If there is no show there is no podcast.
Quite simple really.
A bit like you.

I have posted links to the Listen Again for the last five days of shows at http://radamfi.blogspot.co.uk and will update this daily. If you click on those links it will download directly to your phone or computer instead of opening up as a music file like it would do by default.

There are also instructions there on how to produce your own links if you want earlier shows.
