I don't think Iain's show was ever likely to affect LBC, LBC's demographics (especially late at night) skew very much into the "Mature" end of the market, people who're often conservative in outlook and are very unlikely to listen to a show via DAB (assuming they even have one) or via a Computer/Smart Phone

Iain stated that his demographics are "losers" and people who live at home with their mothers But are able (and do) listen to a show on DAB or via the Internet

Totally different markets

I don't live at home with my mother so I must be a loser, oh well at least I now understand my level in life now. You have to have a degree of zaniness in you to really understand and enjoy the Lee show, I listen for the comedy moments I admit I don't like depressive shows they are not for me I only listen to it to be cheered up and entertained and thankfully this show does it for me in barrels.

Not many phone calls tonight not surprised the way Iain speaks to to listeners comes across as arrogant in my opinion; and needs topics because most people need a reason to call

Just watched the latest video from Nigel from Maidstone on Youtube (https://youtu.be/qXXFLItTQgs). I hope he doesn't get any trick or treaters next week. He could seriously scare the s?*t out of them little kids!

The Rajar's are out and Talkradio have increased their audience

http://www.radiotoday.co.uk/rajar/

Of course no breakdown in individual shows hopefully Iain's has benefited from the increase

To be honest I think Nigel should ditch the singing and take up ventriloquism instead and I know just the act for him now Rod's no longer with us since he fell off the roof, .... Nigel & Emu it's just sounds right and looking at Nigel and Rod Hull not many could tell the difference anyway.

Iain spoke to Tommy Boyd earlier today and Tommy said he takes too many calls. Tommy wants to hear Iain talk for longer.

I think that is a good shout, Iain is super interesting to listen to. Similarly Nick Abbot can talk for hours without taking calls on LBC and be a compelling listen, although I know at the moment a lot of people don't like his main topics, but I guess that comes from working on LBC.

Iain just said that his listening figures are up 50%, from a low base point.

Didn't Iain once say that at some point he wanted to do a double-header, just him and Kath?

Whenever Nick Abbot doesn't get calls, I'm overjoyed because I get to hear just him. Same with Iain........I would be more than happy listening to him alone, he is by far the most interesting person to listen to.

Says Tommy Boyd who always took loads of calls when he presented at talkSPORT. I'm afraid I see it differently one of the highlights for me as well as Iain are the calls we have some wonderful callers as well as amusing oddballs I hope they keep it exactly as it is.

Good news about more late night listeners I hope this is a start to having the edited podcasts back again.

Iain for a while has said that he respects Tommy's opinion and phones him up every now and then to ask him for advice / what he thinks.

Well, that's silly isn't it? He's not, of course. I class him, very loosely, as a friend. We're not close, I've never met him, but I call him about once a year, when I get into trouble, and he talks me off the ledge.

I called him yesterday as I was slightly worried about him - he'd disappeared. My fears were misplaced. He is absolutely fine. I offered him an invitation to come on my show which he graciously declined....this time...but he will come on at some point I'm sure. We talked about the changing nature of talk radio and indeed talkRADIO and he offered some thoughts on my show and I chose to act on some and ignore others. The main thing he did was renew my confidence that Katherine and I are on the right path and we should boldly continue forging our own path. It may work. It may not. But I know what I need to do. for now, at least.

No doubt you're on the right path Iain but always good to get a view from someone with the experience of Tommy. Also someone who was always prepared to innovate and go against the tide in the name of great radio.

The fact that Tommy and Danny Baker are so underused on radio is a crime.
