Iain has been quite open about his battles with depression on social media and on his BBC 3CR shows, and he did seem particularly low last weekend.
That call became the most notable part of the show. However, the first half hour was great radio particularly for us radio geeks. He discussed how he liked and disliked some parts of the talkRADIO schedule, pointing out the the fact that he disliked some parts was a good thing as it means there is something for everyone. He singled out Howard Hughes for particular praise. He also talked about the general lack of calls across the station (apart from his show) but said calls will come as people start to find the station. He reiterated his love for speech based radio, the presenters he respects, what he likes about the genre and even quoted Nick Abbot later in the show. I caught a glimpse of Dr Nookie in a Carry On during Easter Monday and was impressed when later I heard him say he'd be getting Jim Dale on as a guest. |

Did anybody hear that call from the suicidal lady? Absolutely heartbreaking but brilliantly handled. I'm very glad Iain is so open about mental illness.
I hope the lady can get through this. Like you, I hope she gets the help she needs. |

Does anyone know if Iain Lee does genuinely dislike Steve Allen or is it just an in-joke that I'm not in on?
He also had a dig the other night on the show where a caller joked about doing a full radio show of just reading out the papers and Iain replied with something about that they could also slag you off on there show and then block you from replying on twitter. |

NIGEL FROM MAIDSTONE is in the building!!!!!
![]() I knew he'd pop up soon enough, and he wants to do a song. ![]() He says - "I've just sent a letter to Miley Cyrus on Facebook to get her to listen to me on the radio". Good luck with that. It may have been about 4 years but he's started off where he finished, singing Fly Me To The Moon. Iain says to Nigel - "Every time you call in you've got a slot on the radio". That's 5 nights a week then!

I think Iain Lee was in awe of Nigel.

Nigel must have moved on from Lindsay Lohan to Miley Cyrus - probably the twerking that did it. ![]() Poor old Nige thought he was on TalkSport and didn't even realise he was on TalkRadio.

You're right, Rich, Iain called Nigel an 'historic' caller and seems to be an admirer.

Here's the link for 10 to 10.30: http://cdn.talksport.com/talkradio/a...30_2100_LA.mp3 from 17:30 Arguably talkRADIO should be the new spiritual home for such callers. |

Indeed he did, and Friday night's are going to be a bit of a tricky one from now on, because he's in direct competition with Nick Abbot from 10pm to 1am on LBC. I often try to catch that one, the only show that I put LBC on for. Who can resist that droll and dry humour he has.
Last Friday, I did the dirty on Nick and tuned in to Iain instead. What did you decide to do, Rich? I'm wondering if Nick will lose listeners to Iain. I'm considering going back to Nick and listening to Iain's Friday night show on podcast. |

Rob Burnett's contributions over the past week have been utterly fantastic. I've missed him! Glad to see him resurrecting Paulie's infamous catchphrase, too.

(his name's Stewart Bolasco btw) His brother Ray is a sometime caller to BBC London, has a similar nasal voice, but is a really nice bloke. |

Nigel will now be phoning in every night now having not listened to any of the show just like he did with Mike Graham. Whilst funny and a novelty at first, he does get boring quickly. No doubt, he'll be singing all his old Talkradio jingles but changing the chorus to the Iain Lee show.
I thought last nights was a good show as there was much less of Kath. If anyone knows Pauline from Sutton can they let her know about Iain's show. |
