Nick's show friday was excellent, seemed back to the way he was before he got all trump/brexit...I'm grateful Iain hasn't gone down that route...as if he would....

What's with Iain on Twitter tonight?! I thought for a second that Jon Gaunt had unblocked me!

Is tonight the "mean & nasty" show?

Kind of waiting for the punchline here with this EU debate... Unless Iain has gone mad and actually turned into LBC?

Yes, tonight is the mean show.

tl;dr: DS will be read-only for 72 hours while they upgrade the software.

What do you mean by spamming links mate?, please get your facts right before accusing people of spamming.

Billy's links are usually links to clips of the shows discussed, or in this case relevant to the forum itself? It's not spam!

The arrows are certainly unique but I find the links useful

They are not spamming if they relate to the subject of the thread.

If you think he is doing something wrong then report the post you dullard, let the mods decide.

He's not though. He has many crimes in the Talksport thread (based on taste alone ) but his clips are appreciated. Feel free to contribute on a similar level if you like Tee_Kay. At least his posts are on-topic.

The whole show is the punch-line if you listen he will actually mock people who think Brexit means trading with the Commonwealth

I do feel sorry for people like Geeky Girl who actually think he's being serious

I phoned in, played along, and managed to go even too far for Iain... I felt dirty after that 1 minute call, I can only imagine how much scrubbing he's had to do now

Very good. Just shows how bad the other stations are if Iain can outdo then with one serious phone in show.

Well, don't feel sorry for her. It turns out you were fooled by Geeky Girl! She was just brilliant.
On the other hand, I (hi, I'm Katia) had a really hard time not to giggle whilst on air. I can also assure you that I can pronounce the word "quintessentially" really well. It's one of my favourite words. ( I hope radio 4 was not listening actually. They might now think I am not the ideal person to be working with J.P...)

The show was brilliant and I can't decide if I prefer this one or the "nice show" which he did on BBCWM. ( that also happened to be the one with the royal baby ).

( ps: this just made me think about this: there is a person out there who doubts that I am Belgian, and that I am actually a British lady putting on an accent. Ha! Well, maybe I am...)

Geeky Girl is well known as a big fan of our brand of speech based radio so I knew deep down that she was in on the joke but even knowing that I was half wondering.

There must have been a few callers who didn't know it was a set up, showing that it is so easy to get callers if you do a reactionary phone-in. Where are these callers when JHB is on?

I wonder how much difference it made Iain announcing in advance that he's going to be doing a show like this. The "normal" afternoon show he did in 2006 with a barbershop quartet, proper finance news etc. was also trailed in advance with a similar response after the event. Some people got the joke and liked it. Others got the joke but didn't like it. Others didn't get the joke and didn't like it. However, on the LBC thread on here at the time, the usual haters actually liked that show!

When you called in with that I was curious to see how Iain would handle the abortion angle. You hear calls like that on stereotypical American phone-in shows where abortion is often discussed but not really on British radio as abortion isn't such a big deal this side of the Atlantic. So reactionary presenters aren't really interested in that topic.

I've been off Twitter for a while (for my own sanity) but couldn't resist looking after Iain put out a blog post about Tuesday night's show. Someone who calls almost every night announced he was going to stop listening. I find this so weird given that he announced in advance he was going to do a parody of reactionary phone-ins.

At the end of last night's show he said that he was going to give straight-to-air one last chance tonight. He suggested that straight-to-air might have had its day given that people now have alternative outlets on the internet to be audibly creative.

Ah, I've never heard Geeky Girl before, I suspect she may tend to be in the 1st hour as I normally don't get to listen until after my shift ends which is 11pm in the UK

He is floundering around with old rubbish IMHO. I won't be bothering to tune back. I think his age has caught up with him.

I'm always impressed in your command of English, not just the use of quintessentially but you used "donkey's years" the other day. This from someone who was trying to remember the German for waste-bin this morning (Abfalleimer) and ending up having to use Müllkannister

She called in for the first time in months on Monday night, where she explained why she hadn't called in for so long. But she's well known in the Iain Lee fan community on Twitter and used to be a regular caller.

Yup it was kind of fun to try and spot the ones who may be real and the ones who weren't. Geeky Girl had me, the guy who only wanted to trade with Commonwealth Countries I thought was real
