Was "Andy" on again?
He wasn't on the radio last night but Iain was talking about messages he was getting from him and outed him as Alex towards the end of the show.

Never heard of the guy before, so checked out his wikipedia page It reads very much like he does it himself "Since his departure from BBC Leeds the station has lost over 700,000 listener hours"

which I thought was a no-no by Wikipedia's rules

What's all this about YouTube videos that they're arguing about?

I find it amusing when they switch to Sky News, sometimes the music bed can be quite long (I guess the news starts on the hour and Iain may go early)

I kind of imagine the Sky News reader suddenly being taken by surprise and was outside smoking a cigarette and has to rush in

Alex Belfield, a radio presenter and comedian phoned Iain under the name of Andy a few weeks ago and expressed concern about Iain's mental health. Iain on Periscope called Alex a few names during an ad break. Alex uploaded the footage of the name calling. Nothing more than that. Just another radio presenter feud. I think theres answer a string of emails that Alex has sent to various people trying to discredit Iain. I don't know why they can't settle their differences face to face. Iain would verbally and physically destroy him if he wanted but he's trying to rise above the relentless bickering.

I think Alex didn't like the way Iain takes shots at right wing presenters but refuses to answer the likes of Jon Gaunt when they challenge him about what he's said and uses mental health as a defence.

I'm always impressed in your command of English, not just the use of quintessentially but you used "donkey's years" the other day. This from someone who was trying to remember the German for waste-bin this morning (Abfalleimer) and ending up having to use Müllkannister
Hello there and thanks very much for your lovely comment. Truth be told, I am in love with the English language. I think it is just so beautiful and I know that if I ever were to leave Great Britain, I would miss speaking it on a daily basis. I expect that I'd still be a caller to Iain and JOB as what I have heard so far on Belgian radio stations can officially be qualified as tedious. Who knows, maybe I should try and become a radio presenter on BEL RTL and change things a little bit!
Anyway, guten tag to you Herr Dave. Und happy neu Jahr.

I caught the end of last night's show. I found the discussion between Ian and the man who wants to record the medical assessments or what eer he's having very interesting. Unfortunately I didn't catch it from the beginning.

Ian was making points that on the surface seem reasonable. However, the caller wasn't having any of it. The caller may have some legitimate grievances, but what he seemed unable to see is that he was so bogged down in the technical details of the case that the listener could not independently ascertain, that he alienated the people whose support he may hope to win.

The clock beat them both but I would have enjoyed listening to another hour or so of that conversation.

Does Alex produce a podcast in his Grandma's bedroom ? I wondered who that was aimed at

Has he since deleted the video? I can't find it.

Please do keep phoning in if you end up back in Belgium, which I sincerely hope doesn't happen. You're definitely one of my favourite regulars.

Oh call Ofcom then. It's live radio, a guest swears, Iain cuts him off immediately and apologises profusely. Job done.

Update: that tweet seems to have been deleted already!

What happened to the double dump.
He used it all up on a f-bomb at the start and then another so as a result there was only a couple of seconds of delay and missed the c-bomb.

As said if ofcom do get involved it will just be a telling off, it's late at night and Iain apologised and cut him off. In Iain's defence as well he also tried to dump it so every effort was made.

The guy being interviewed sounded like pondlife. He was warned about swearing from the off. Turned over, as I do not see the point in giving people like that airtime.

I been listenin' man, podcasts now cos I don't have time to stay up till 3am every night any more. Not had much to say anyway. And right now I've lost my voice for the first time ever. Feels weird. I never knew how much I talk to my cats until my throat seized up.

Anyway, this bell fellow. As my axe-hero Brian May is fond of saying, life is a journey. When you come across a traveller who has...more to learn than you can cope with it's best to body swerve big time. (I added that bit)

To end with a quote from my other life guru, Sweet Brown: "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

She also said "Oh Lord Jesus it's a fire!" but I'm unsure how to apply that to my life right now.

Great to hear "gdengeden gdengedeng" again, it led indirectly to me moving to the Netherlands. I went to Leuven to see the band, liked the life (places you visit on holiday are not the same when you live there ) so got a job and moved there
