They did wipe the phone. On a Windows device that would wipe the SD card, hence not a security issue.”

I doubt a factory reset on a Windows tablet would wipe an SD card actually, it normally just wipes the boot partition containing the Windows installation.

It will remind you you have more than one drive and make you choose wipe C or wipe all.

I've learned something!

One thing Microsoft are useless at, telling people what their machines can do.

Launch the Surface? Do we tell people all the features it has and all the things it can do that other tablets can't? No, lets have a bunch of students dancing around swapping keyboard covers.

Don't imagine an option to remind you format every SD car in your machine would be a great selling point in an advert.

No, but in the case of Windows tablets the many features I have listed many times are things people would use every day and in fact have complained about other tablets lacking. Even things as simple as filling up the storage and saying they will buy a newer iProduct with a bigger capacity, when if they had a Windows or Android device they could easily add an extra 128 gb for a fraction of the cost.

And obscure features like the SD card wiping are also rarely explained even when you are in the process of doing so. It comes up as an option when you get to that stage but it would be better if they explained all that before you started the process. In Windows 10 many Settings windows have a "Learn more about this" link at the bottom, but clicking it opens a webpage with just a generic Windows 10 features, rather than the page that actually deals with the specific feature you wanted to know about.
I've even had such links opening 404 pages on the MS website.

Gets desperate when review sites are desperately selling true tone display in the same words as 4K yet we all know people do want proper 4K and that's a few generations off iPad yet.

Seemingly a major update over Air 2? Nobody is buying that it's a "Air 3" halved memory plus £100 premium for same iPad Air 2gb ram and the cheek to sell it as 32gb for more than 64gb not even including the pencil to justify the price:

http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/...air-2.1967278/

We might never see real sales breakdowns as Apple seem to hide it in as all iPads. I bet the reduced Air 2 is selling like hot cakes were the £499 model is probably least selling as anybody serious about Pro will buy a pencil plus more memory which will be a niche number as nobody spends this on iPads usually:

A mate of mine sold his Air 2 for £220 as he believed the rumours that the iPad Pro would have 4gb of RAM like it's bigger brother and he was gutted when he found out it had the same RAM and he was out £300 to get something marginally better than what he had before. He learnt a lesson there never believe rumours.

Oh dear. That's why it's best to wait a day or two for the tear down of the iPad seemingly it's very hard to fix aswell.

Air 2 64gb hasn't held its value over 16gb tablets so £300 for something the same is money down a drain for me sadly. I enjoy updating yearly but what Apple released just made my Air 2 good for another year.

Those reviews sound pretty bad - what would you say were some of the most desperate sounding things they said?

Maybe the true tone thing is actually quite good - what did you think of it when you used it?

I'm still not sure 4K has really taken off for broadcast tv where it would have the most benefit on large tv's. So I doubt that a 4K on a tablet is in the forefront of that many people's minds away from techie forums.

Which isn't to say it wouldn't have been nice to include it - but most people I know don't seem that interested in 4K on their tv, let alone on a tablet, or even phone where there really can't be any need except spec bragging rights.

Proving the 'fool and his money' saying quite well... That's just epic!

Also with Inflation and interest rates low I asked on another forum how £499 is good value must be doing better in the US because here our energy prices have fallen and bus prices and the wages have gone up. I believe VAT must he better in the US as I always hear how people in the US get them £50 odd quid cheaper?

They don't have VAT in the US - different states have different sales taxes

All went quiet on the desperate reviews thing then. Oh well.

I just ordered the iPad Pro 9.7 128gb. It'll be a nice little update to my 32gb 3rd gen.

And no I didn't consider any other tablet. I have tried an android tablet; it's not for me.

Seems I am told I don't want 4K.

For maps it would be great, likewise photos would be enhanced. I am not obsessed with having high spec, but when given a choice at similar prices, higher spec usually wins it for me.

There are loads of things we do or do not need, but again, given choice I normally prefer to get more, not less.

On price, we have that 20% VAT, assuming that Apple pays that tax direct in the UK.

What are you talking about. Despite your obsession, you don't buy apple stuff so what they do makes no difference to you.

You're not being told anything. Are you even taking still photographs in 4K?

With the VAT why would you assume anything else?

If you are trying to insinuate that Apple might be guilty of somehow using means to divert that 20% VAT anywhere other than the UK treasury, please cite any evidence you have stumbled across...

So how is everybody finding the IPad Pro? Is it much better than the Air 2?

My pro arrived yesterday after the touch screen in my iPad 2 went bonkers but overall I'm happy I went for the larger screen.

Bought mine here in Abu Dhabi and managed to get 128gb, 12.9 screen for the equivalent of £530.... Think that may be down to the shocking exchange rate right now!

Am supprised how many of the big name apps aren't designed for the larger screen... Facebook and eBay being two I found so far. Everything is just bigger... Like loading a iPhone app on the iPad. Using the Internet is so much nicer now.

The sound quality is a world away from my last iPad.

Am also suprised that you can't fit more apps on the home screen, they're just more spread out.

Just need to find a nice case for it now, can't help but feel I'm going to drop it all the time!
