I'd genuinely love to be excited by this - I loved my M7 and M8. However, since they've ditched their One design signature it's lost the magic for me. The most recent renders look like an S6 to me - and in my eyes, that's most certainly not a good thing.

"So, let's make HTC unique again."
"Remove the speakers that made our phones sound the best. Check."
"Keep the ridiculous HTC bar logo that everyone hates. Check."
"Release our new phone after Samsung and Apple. Check."
"We're onto a winner here guys!"

Its a real shame about HTC. It was the good comments here about the M7 that persuaded me to part with my cash and buy one, SIM free. Its a choice I did not regret, although the purple camera issue was a small blip, thankfully fixed free or charge by HTC.

The M8 was also good, but that, and the M9 were not cutting new ground. The M7 still looks fresh today, I love the brushed metal panels and back. Its a thing of industrial beauty, and when a friend offered me one in the box unused last year I bought that and will keep it mint condition, just charged and used occasionally. Not saying it will, but I think in the future it will be seen as a classic.]

Now the M10 is on the way, and I really hope that it will be another classic HTC phone and DS favourite.

I'm hoping that HTC don't make any silly decisions and this new M10 goes on to be successful. HTC do make some great phones which seem to get totally drowned out by the Apple and Samsung fanfare.

I'm a lover of HTC but I've finally convinced myself that my M8 is far too big (phones have gotten so in general) and the HTC 10 is rumoured to be EVEN BIGGER!

Without a viable smaller option I'm likely to be moving to Sony.

I really don't want to drop HTC but Sony are brilliant at offering mini options for their flagships - and keeping the specs high with it too!

The videos shows a good looking if not unique phone. Shame about the loss of front speakers. If it has the rumored specs and a good price point I may well get one. For me the chipset is a big factor the 820 looks good and is not in UK S7/S7E's. If the camera is good that's tempting. I was considering the Z5 but the screen is not good enough and it's a big of a slab...

Given that Boomsound was their one and only USP they need a check up from the neck up if they are going to get rid of it!

So they've improved the camera at last, but is that enough? As in you can buy a number of phones with a great camera and big pixels these days (around the 12MP mark).

What does HTC bring to the table to make it stand out? Even LG can't figure that one out with the G5.

It looks good but I do not think it's enough to save HTC at least the camera is way better now though.

Is this based on actually using one, or the DXO rating? I'd suggest ignoring the DXO ratings.

The DXO rating on its own is close to useless - the 10 has the same rating as the Sony Z5, and if mine and others I know with them are representative, that DXO rating was bought, not earned - real world results for the Z5 are not exactly bad, but they definitely don't deserve praise.

Looked at a few reviews including DXO and they all praised the camera, not used one yet though and doubtful I ever will.

I don't get the criticism that it looks similar to other phones. There is only so much you can do with that shape and most people put cases on anyway so does it matter what the back looks like? No.

Saw a quick preview from MKBHD on YouTube and noticed they have worked with google to remove all duplicate apps so calendar is google's, calculator is googles etc why oh why can't Samsung do this as well?

I have no interest in this phone but hats off to HTC for reducing bloatware even more.

I like the back and sides - it's the front that I don't like. Reminds me too much of my god-awful S6. In general terms I like the thinking behind this phone, if not the frontal appearance. It'll be interesting to see what the more in-depth reviews are like over the coming weeks.

Edit: If they released a dedicated car dock like they had for the M7 and M8 that might be a clincher for me too. I bloody loved that accessory, the fact there wasn't one for the M9 was another reason I jumped ship at that stage.
