You can't really describe wine. Pro secco is a nice, sweet tasting wine but there are different sorts, depends on the grapes. The original is Italian. It is inexpensive and available almost everywhere. Go buy a bottle and see if you like. I'm sure you will find it in all big supermarket chains.

Is Prosecco sweet? To me it's really quite dry. It's nice though, only tried it fairly recently but in that time I've had a few different types and it's always seemed dry to me. Maybe I'm just used to far sweeter wines?

As you can probably tell, I'm not really a wine person

It's going through a phase or fad of popularity. You can get it in boxes and even on draught!

In Italy though it's illegal to sell it in anything other than bottled form.

I had a nice, dry Prosecco in Harvey Nichols but most are sweeter.

Personally I prefer a decent Cava or Champagne as I like a dry fizz. Prosecco seems to be very much the wine of the moment though.

Champagne can be not to everyone's taste - I have to say that I find it too dry and the bubbles too harsh for me. Much the same for Cava. Prosecco is easier to drink - it is slightly sweeter, much less dry and the bubbles less harsh on your palette. It's the sort of "in drink" at the moment.

As bit of aside, why not try the other Italian sparkling wine - Franciacorta. It's more similar to Champagne in its nature(in its colour, production method and some of its flavours). I tried it recently(I think it's still newish to the UK) and I quite liked it. Waitrose sell it.
