Do these work and if so can anyone recomend one for around £50 ,also a supplier of bags

Not sure why you'd splash out that much for cheese. Just use a resealable freezer bag,

What is happening to your cheese that makes you throw it away? A small bit of mould won't do you any harm, just cut it off.

If you use a deli then get several small blocks of cheese instead of one big lump, shouldn't cost any more. Freeze the ones you aren't going to use immediately.

I have a vacuum sealer which I got a few years ago when they weren't particularly cheap, can't recommend one these days. It does work well for cheese for freezing though.

It isn't just for cheese it was a little joke hence the smilie

We buy a large lump of cheese we like and sliced cheese from Costco
but also thought it might be useful for other bulk bought stuff as there are only 2 of us and Costco packs are huge

I use a freezer bag and a straw.
Seal your freezer bag up to the point you can just insert the tip of a straw at the locking end.
Suck hard!
Quickly remove and seal.
It's nearly as good as vacuum packed.

Anyway, thanks for this thread as I had been thinking about buying one. I can now do it myself with things I already have so my vacuum sealer cost me the grand total of nothing.
