You may have already come across this on YouTube, but if not, I wanted to share.

First broadcast thirty years ago on BBC2 in 1986, this is a fascinating behind the scenes look at EastEnders, charting it's early history, production, storylines and rise to become a ratings winner. Featuring interviews with many of the main cast - including June Brown, Leslie Grantham, Gillian Taylforth, Wendy Richard, Susan Tully and Anita Dobson, and also crew - including original creator Julia Smith.

It's the ultimate EE history lesson for those who weren't there from the start, and a nostalgic trip back in time for those who were.

Enjoy

OMG! EastEnders when it was real. Those were the days.

Anita Dobson truly was the star.

I've given up on the show now, it's morphed into Hollyoaks. Utter tripe. Not worth my conscious attention any longer.

Thanks for this, was really fascinating!

I never knew Gillian and Nick dated but it was a bit before my time

June Brown looked loads younger without Dot's make up on, I liked how candid the interviews were with many of the people

Susan Tully had bacon custom made for her by the props boys. Well that was impressive.

Maybe that will keep some of her hatets quiet who were bitching on another thread about how unimportant she was in EE history lol )

Slightly off topic but does anyone know where I can find the BBC documentary 'My Brother David' about David Scarboro (Mark Fowler) made by his brother Simon.

On YouTube part 1 is missing which is odd as I've seen the whole thing on here before. I'll have a root round else where, but for now

Someone needs to make the new Producer watch it.

Remind him of how to make decent TV.
