Not seen much mention of this SIM on here - anyone use it? I'm looking ahead for a SIM that will give relatively low ongoing cost for data only and fairly low data usage rates. As far as I can tell the data reward SIM should be ideal - but is there any catch to the free 200MB / month? It looks like all you need to do is register it?

Otherwise just looking for a SIM that gives fixed data amounts that last for several months.

I have one and it seems to be fine so far. I was surprised to see that the 1GB you get on the SIM, never expires. You also get the 1p/MB rate similar to 3 PAYG if you top up but don't buy a data allowance.

I have been using it in a 3G USB stick connected to a router as a backup

The 1GB expires 1 month from when the free data has been used up.

I haven't started to use it. This is good for me as it's unlikely that I will use the 200MB for some time. It also didn't get used in the time between putting the SIM in and registering for the free data

You can also make calls at 3p per minute and send texts at 2p per each on this particular SIM.

I wouldn't mind knowing this for sure. I'm reading conflicting info.

How would that work? The free data renews every month forever...

You can, I've had the sim in a phone and used it for calls/texts. They come off at 3p and 2p as advertised.

Edit
Here's the plan details at three.co.uk. Voice and text charges are on the right hand side.

I suspect the 200MB kicks in first, then you start on the 1GB.

Don't use it within a month, lose it.

Then, you get another 200MB after 30 days.

The original query was about the 1GB allowance that comes preloaded and also shows as never expiring. @Aetnia claims it expired 30 days after the free data was used up, as the free data renews every month I didn't quite understand when that would be.

It clearly shows as never expiring in My3.

Surely the 'starter topup' is the 200MB?

If the 1GB never expires, I'm buying three and never buying data again.

That is the point of the sim, the 200MB renews every 30 days forever*.

You pay £10 for the sim, if arrives with a one off 1GB that doesn't appear to have an expiry date for use and a never ending 200MB per month.

*obviously as long as "forever" is when dealing with Three.

Ah, you mean the gig doesn't necessarily expire within thirty days but does when all used up? I see.

Fair enough, but I'd go through a gig in an afternoon.

Don't forget you need to register the sim for the free 200MB once you have it.

This is what Three say:

We’re introducing a new Data Reward Pay As You Go plan from 3 February 2016. If you’re on our new Data Reward plan, you get 200MB data free every month when you register with us at Three.co.uk/freedata.

Your 200MB free data is applied straight away and lasts for 30 days. Any unused data will be lost at the end of your 30 days. Each month, you’ll get another 200MB of free data automatically applied to your account to enjoy.

Oh good, if you are using it that proves it. I saw mention elsewhere that been charging 10p and the website was wrong. But they must have done it wrong!

I just put the sim back into a phone to double check, definitely 3p/2p.

Started at £4.94

Made a call, just under 1 minute, credit dropped to £4.91

Sent a text, credit dropped to £4.89

Great, thanks for your help. I'll order one soon.

I can't see any advantage to the 123sim anymore.

Just got one of these sims today to give it a run and have hit a problem or if not a problem a downside to this sim.

I ordered the free sim with no credit and have registered the sim and now have my free 200 MB of data but I can’t top-up?

I’ve opened an account so I can top up online but when I try to top up its first asked me to select an add-on of £15 for 2GB or £20 for 5GB or £25 for 10GB all of which expire after 30 days, below this is an option to add International roaming credit in amounts starting from £2 up to the sky’s the limit.

If I don’t select one of these and just continue to put credit on the account it just gives me the knock back and flags up I’ve not added an add-on.

Unless the so called International roaming credit is bog standard local credit then I’m just sticking to the free 200 MB.

So has anyone bought a top up without an add on or is it just me? and what would happen if I make my way to the shops and buy a voucher, does that have to be converted to an add-on too?

I've noticed the same thing, though I haven't actually tried to top mine up.

The price guide and other documentation clearly states that 3-2-1 rates are in effect so you should be able to just add the credit
