Ah I totally don't get all the dislike for Jess!

I love her album, even though it's about love and hesrbreak, you wouldn't instantly realise with the dance theme all through it.

Hold My Hand is a great song but was ruined last year being overplayed. Now it features on every advert and now I can't listen to it. Her standout song to me is Take Me Home, a ballad with actual meaning and is a beautiful song.

She's not the greatest live either, but give me Jess' music over Ellie Goulding and Adele any day!

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say to be honest. Why do some people have to be so rude about a person? Comments like "she won't be remembered in five years time" are just totally unnecessary. I personally think Jess, and actually Ellie, are very talented. I'm not a fan of Adele these days but again can't deny her talent. And it's 'Glynne'

However I will agree with the OP that Jess is overplayed. Not to the extent Lukas Graham or Adele are, but up there. I remember Jess' first solo single Right Here was never really hyped or received large airplay, and so when Hold My Hand was so overhyped by radio stations it would be easy to think that both songs weren't from the same artist.

Her own songs are basic and repetitive, and her voice is grating on them. But she sounded great when she featured on Rather Be. I think she's like Jessie J, in that she *could* be a technically good singer, but she chooses to continue with ugly vocal habits which she seems to think make her sound unique. It's a shame, because she could be a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice.

I noticed that she also has an irritating nasal voice, like many London white girls who want to mark themselves as working class.

I actually have no opinion on her music. I got sick of hearing it all the time before I formed an opinion.

I don't actually bother listening to my local radio stations anymore, except for one that does a special 'anthems' hour from the nineties every afternoon. I found that the overplaying of various songs was just getting ridiculous. For example, the other week one station played Shine by Years & Years. There was a brief ad break, then the next song was another from Years & Years, Eyes Shut. I'm a big fan of Years & Years, but that just seemed a ridiculous move, as though they'd literally ran out of material to play so had to resort to the same artists album.

The problem with Ellie Goulding is she has really gone downhill. Her first 2 albums were good, now she has taken a step backwards and is putting out watered down pop.

Adele is not ghetto now she lives in a countryside manor in Chipping Norton (very Rock N Roll) but her accent shows you can take the girl out of Tottenham but you can't take the Tottenham out of the girl

Same as our local radio. Apart from the Top 10 at 10 and a random hour of dance anthems we have the same sorry mix of Adele, Bieber, Years & Years, History by 1D and Sitches played constantly. And Jess Glynne a couple of months back. I've gave up on it because it's just the same songs every single day.

What I find funny, or rather a very weird coincidence regarding 1D's History, is that it recently peaked at #6 in the UK. Exactly ten years ago, Girls Aloud, as we know a band from a similar background as 1D, released Whole Lotta History, which again peaked at #6. And both contain "Whole Lotta History" in their choruses

I must admit I do agree. I like Ellie very much as an artist but I do love her debut over any of her newer material, and you would not think Starry Eyed came from the same artist as On My Mind. I think her material declined following the first Calvin Harris collaboration, I Need Your Love, when she started to become more mainstream and seemed to take a different approach, and I have to say I was never a big fan of Burn or Love Me Like You Do, as certainly in the latter's case they just seemed to be highly overrated.

I Need Your Love was definitely a turning point. That was a bonus track on Halcyon and I deleted it. She used to be interesting now she's all over the media and overexposed.

Rae Morris is far better than Ellie.

That song Stitches is horrible.

She's like the queen of middle of the road, advert music.

You know that type of middle of the road where it's so middle of the road, it's actually not even that catchy really? It's like the people who like it want to pretend it's not catchy, cheesy chart music, so artists write these irritating advert music songs, and then I end up just having more respect for the pop artists who write catchy songs, because at least they're catchy,

It's like they're saying "I'm too cool to be catchy", yet you're trying to flog me toothpaste or a shitty Honda hatchback, or something. I mean seriously, at least catchy is honest. Jess Glynn is just for people who like shitty, catchy pop music but think they are too cool to admit it.

And man, her voice is ****ing ghastly!

I am a fan of her voice & music but even I can't stand hearing ' Hold my Hand' on a continuous loop on stations. I really don't like the track.

As for her album, it was decent but highly repetitive. I understand why she played it safe with it being her first album but she needs more varied music.

She's certainly my #1 choice for most over-played artist this year. It doesn't matter where I am, or what time of the day it is, any time I hear music playing on the TV/radio, it's Jess Glynne and either that god-awful 'Hold My Hand' or 'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself' (I don't mind that song though haha). I find her totally over-played and totally over-rated. That's not to say I don't think she's talented - I do, I just don't think she's as talented as people tell me she is, similar to Ed Sheeran.

In my opinion, she's the Emeli Sande of 2016 - hot new artist, talented, has a few successful singles and subsequently has those songs played every hour, on the hour on TV/radio. (It felt like you couldn't go anywhere without hearing that 'Read All About It' song after Emeli's major overexposure at the Olympics for MONTHS afterward.)

And as for Ellie Goulding - I've never liked her music, even back in the 'Starry Eyed' days. She is one I would say is hugely overrated. (Sam Smith's another one that falls into that category; I'll never understand the fuss around him.)
